UCF QB McKenzie Milton enters portal

He was a pretty accomplished player before his injury. It would be interesting to see if UM might be a possible fit (if Harbaugh is still around), as he has talent and is looking for a chance to compete for a starting job. Coach Harbaugh has shown a willingness to take experienced QB transfers, and we would be thin at the position next year if one of ours were to exit for greener pastures.

Obviously several things would have to happen to make that a real possibility, but crazier things have happened. Regardless, I'm pulling for the kid to get a shot somewhere after overcoming such a significant injury.

I wouldn't come here if I were him. What we all expected Harbaugh to be able to do with QBs when he got here....pretty much the exact opposite of that has happened sans Jake Rudock.

I don't know....at some point I just think you've got to put some faith in the guys you've recruited to come here.

I'd be shocked if Milton winds up anywhere other than Lincoln.

From three weeks ago:

Former UCF coach Scott Frost said he and Milton talk often about Milton going to coach at Nebraska, where Frost currently is the head coach.

“[He] wants to be a coach and we’ve talked a lot, when he’s ready to be a coach, he’s going to come and help us in Nebraska I think and he’ll certainly have the opportunity to if he wants to,” Frost said about Milton Thursday evening on Husker Sports Network. “He’s just the type of guy you want around because of who he is and the energy he brings.”

Yeah, I assumed that from the start.  Nebraska has a need for a proven starter, Frost knows what he's getting in Milton, Milton would have a coach who runs an offense he's comfortable with and has some connection to, feels like a perfect fit.

My only concern for all involved is if his recovery went well from that injury and if he feels confident playing the way he did beforehand.  He wasn't a run-first QB or anything but he did carry the ball about 100 times a year.

Much shorter, much fairer skin and born in Hawaii... otherwise virtual twins.

BTW, on the injury.  Sounds like it was in the vicinity of Grant Newsome's.  Apparently, McKenzie's doctors told him that 50% with the type of leg injury he suffered have their leg amputated.

He's been rehabbing for the last 2 years.  Best of luck no matter where he lands.

Kids seems like a real class act, so hopefully he lands somewhere where he can compete for a spot.  I sort of assume he'd be looking at a place like Nebraska, where Frost is and certainly a spot where he could compete for a starting spot.
