247 releases 2022 Recruiting Rankings
Kids born in 2004......
The only guy from MI who has a profile is William Johnson, a 5 star CB who visited recently. He’s from Grosse Pointe South out of the Macomb Area Conference, a region that has produced bubkes as far as Power 5 talent in the 21st century until recently. We have a 4 star commit in Giovanni El-Hadi in 2021 (Sterling Heights Stevenson). Interesting seeing trends change.
Before you say it’s too early, Michigan has offered 39 2022 prospects.

Johnson’s father is a UM football alum if I remember correctly from a (free) note on 247 yesterday - so outlook should be pretty good to land him.

Yes, and he’s been on campus a bunch. A must get.
Also, the CB from Bergen Jaeden Gould would be huge, as well as JJ McCarthy’s WR Tyler Morris. A few (very early) top 50 types that we have serious connections with.

Another CB, #10 overall Domani Jackson grew up a big Michigan fan and labeled Michigan his “dream school”. He is from Mater Dei so a near California school lock, but it sounds like we will have a real chance with him

Yup was going to mention him, but didn’t want the chorus of “oh no the ‘dream school’ curse”s and “Mater Dei? He’s going to USC, idiot”s.

Yes, Deon Johnson. DB from the early 90's. I believe he was part of the group that started Sound Mind and Body. Does the camp and some other training coaching.

If we don't land him and #4 and #5. We failed.
CT, NJ and MI.

If we start signing a bunch of 5* recruits, there are going to be a bunch of contributors with less to bitch about. We aren't going to have much room to pick up 3* flyers late in the recruiting cycle.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
Trust me, good sir, a bunch of contributors will bitch, regardless of the facts.
August 14th, 2019 at 11:33 AM ^
Yes, we have our share of grief merchants.

They'll bitch at the halftime of MTSU when we're ahead 21-7 (WHERE IS THIS NEW OFFENSE?! DEFENSE SUCKS. FIRE BROWN. HOLD HARBZ ACCOUNTABLE).
August 14th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
heaven forbid we turn the ball over early & give up a TD so we trail 0-7......

Of the kids we've offered Jaeden Gould from Bergen Catholic in NJ would be a huge get at a position of need. Same school as Jordan Morant and his coach his Anthony Campanile's brother for the unaware.
A bunch of St. Francis kids on the offer list as well, so the Biff pipeline looks to be one that will continue.

I just got off the phone with Maizen and he was in a panic in regards to our 2022 recruiting class. He said that our program was falling off a cliff as we are currently tied for last in all of CFB for 2022 team recruiting rankings.
Even Iowa is ahead of us.

5 star corner?! Someone send flowers or bags of money!
Im kidding... invite his uncle to your car dealership and give him a "loaner" for the next 3 or 4 years.

Craig Krenzel says, “Hi”

Still at the beginning of 21st Century.

He was at HFII in the late 90s.

Jim Sorgi says hi from Fraser (my school - though he was younger than me and I sucked at football)

Too early to care. A lot can change in two and a half years.

I know 247 is just chasing the money, but of what value is a ranking of guys just going into their sophomore years? Seems like this is likely to change considerably
August 14th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
Probably not that much but the coaches are out there scouting and offering so the scouting business follows suit. Much has been made about coaches offering 8th graders, so at least this is somewhat based on playing football and not just being faster than other 13 year olds?

Jay Harbaugh stated that he (or someone in staff) will be scouting Omari Embree (CB/RB) of Warren Woods Tower. Embree is the brother of current Michigan Wrestler Jelani Embree. Omari is a defending state championship wrestler.

Their dad kicked my ass in wrestling 20+ years ago. Maybe another two sport athlete for us.

Don’t live there any longer but Port Huron Northern was in the MAC at one point. Braiden McGregor wants a word, bubkes.
August 14th, 2019 at 3:33 PM ^
That's what I'm saying. Things are changing around here. He's the first guy we've taken on scholarship since James Rogers in 2007 from Madison Heights.

it's too early

SMH, These early rankings help feed the Football Camp industry more then predict real talent, These kids haven't developed yet. In a decade we are going to see 6th graders ranked out of pop warner if someone can make a buck from it.

My uncle was the last graduating class of Grosse Pointe High and my Mom was the first graduating class of Grosse Pointe South.
