Braxton Miller to have shoulder surgery
According to the reports, it'd been bothering him since their bowl game. I'm curious why they didn't do the surgery sooner so his recovery could have allowed him to get more out of Spring practice. Ahh well, better for us in the long run I suppose.
Edit: Not OT. Not OT at all.

As much as I hate OSU. Good luck young man. I hope he is 100% by the time we spank him in the shoe.

I asked Frank if he dreamt of that hit. His response, "Nope. I dream of hitting him harder this year."
Perfect and instantaneous response.

and I wonder if it's the hit that caused the shoulder issue:

But I'm pretty sure you can find that exact replay in just about every game (and by game, I mean every series) that Braxton took a hit in the last three years.

Doesn't look like the OLine and BMiller get along. You would think one of them would have tried to help him up......

We got this.

It could be for many reasons. Denard, for instance, didn't have surgery either at all or until much later, I forget. But if there is a possibility it can heal on its own, that is typically always better and faster. That might have been the only way he could play spring ball, and by waiting until now he'll probably be back for Fall camp either way. So having surgery earlier was really a no-win.
Also, it could be swelling, it possibly wasn't healing like they anticipated with therapy, etc. Lots of possibilities here.
Hope he gets back to full strength before the season starts. Without Kenny G to back him up they need him at full strength this year.

Honestly I had no idea Kenny Guiton wasn't coming back. Had to google what was up with him after your comment. How did I miss this? I was going to say that OSU would be fine with Guiton as a backup, but that changes things. Hopefully Braxton recovers well, though.

You are thinking of Aaron Craft.

I agree on Craft but I usually don't think of a backup as being in that category.

You are not the first one to have this reaction to Guiton. Many folks were surprised last year to find out he was a senior with no more eligibility left.
Of course, I knew ALL along...

I feel kind of dumb, but I guess it's just because he seemed to come out of nowhere last year. This is the best non-news I've finally become aware of all day.

Maybe we should play OSU early in the year, that's when we win all kinds of games.

I cackled loudly when he threw the game sealing INT against Clemson

CBS Sports has some information here - LINK
Per their article, it is a minor procedure and should not limit him in this coming season, although there might be some limitations on him during spring practice. The article also specifically mentions the sack by Vic Beasley in the Orange Bowl as the one where he first felt discomfort.
“I think it just affected my running," Miller said after the Buckeyes' 40-35 loss to Clemson. "Throwing-wise, it was cool. I don't know what happened. I landed on my elbow, but it shot right up to my shoulder. It was hurting real bad."

I don't think you get the up-votes you deserve in a lot of these threads because maybe it doesn't answer a question, but it does always make the threads better, IMO. You always manage to add either something insightful from a source, or something to make the thread more complete. I always enjoy and look for your posts.

any chance the surgery is to remove his shoulder?
February 21st, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
Miller is waiting for the outcome of Taylor Martinez's shoulder removal before he decides.

This has to be his fault, right?

Probably a simple scope with minimal recovery time.

Hate to see anyone get hurt, even a rival. I wish him a healthy recovery.
