i parked on the (practice?) soccer fields right next to the stadium....15 bucks just west of the stadium
nice grass fields: cant beat it if you are tailgating

I believe they call that Munn Field. I was last up there in 2001, but if that is still public, it's your best bet. It will probably fill up fairly early though.
Is alcohol still banned there? When they banned it in the late 90's, the students had a protest that turned into the first riot.
In the past they have also had commuter lots south of campus that you could park in for cheap, then take a bus to stadium. Might be worth looking into.

Public parking
On campus public parking is available for $20 per game at Munn Field (alcohol free), lots north of the railroad tracks are $15 and lots south of the railroad tracks are $10. For more information, contact MSU Police Department at 517-355-8440.

Shuttle parking
Shuttle bus service is available from Lot 89 at the corner of Mt. Hope Road and Farm Lane. The shuttle starts two hours before the game and returns for a reasonable amount of time after the game. The cost is $3 per game for a round trip ticket or $21 for a season pass. Parking is free.

Park at Mt. Hope and Farm Lane, because It is a bit of a pain in the butt to park close to the Stadium.

i parked at munn field and still drank, maybe i was lucky to not get caught or its 'banned' just like a pioneer high school
