Wings v. Canucks Open Thread
Puck drops at 7:30ET. At stake is the home streak (going for 24) and sitting alone at the top of the NHL/Western Conference. Two points for the Canucks tonight and they tie us up. Datsyuk is still out tonight, so we need production from elsewhere.
I have some Fat Tire on deck, and that seems to coincide with good performances by the Wings.

Fat Tire = Not that good.

For a session beer, I like it better than anything else available year round. It's not a Double Bastard, Hopslam or DFH 90, but if you're going to buy a twelve pack, I like it as well as anything.
Also, NHL network is still saying they're showing NHL On The Fly...WTF?
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:44 PM ^
Canucks = dirty, dirty hitting team.
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
Vancouver killed off the PK, and they're outplaying the Wings currently. We need to be able to keep possession in their zone, and have them GTFO of ours.
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:51 PM ^
Weakish call, still 0-0.
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:55 PM ^
PK killed off, Detroit starting to slowly look better (Howard has looked great, though).
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
Let's go wings!!
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:56 PM ^
1-0 Wings.
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:58 PM ^
Trying to watch the game...
February 23rd, 2012 at 7:59 PM ^
They have every game, from what I hear on the open threads. I haven't used it, but it gets linked to a lot here.

On Sunday, February 19, 2012 I received a cease and desist email from an NHL attorney. I have been ordered to stop the unauthorized streaming of NHL copyrighted works. With the recent arrest of a Comstock Park, MI man for copyright infringement, I had to really step back and recognize the risks associated with continuing this site. I am expecting my first child in August, and I cannot go to jail over something like this site. I have made the unfortunate and difficult decision to stop streaming any and all NHL games. I have no plans of moving the site to a new domain or to continue streaming elsewhere. I hope you enjoyed the streams this season, and I am sorry that I can not continue providing this service to you. You can thank the NHL for ruining the party.

your comment didn't show. Eh, shame about that site though.

Can't start a new thread but theres heavy talk about Jack Johnson being traded to Columbus of all places. TSN's Bob McKenzie saying deal is potentially JJ and a 1st rounder for Jeff Carter. Last place id want Jack to go but maybe its the opportunity he needs as a #1 Dman.

Cheaters...

I know we don't like Vancouver but not every team is Akron State and worships a golden Bobcat idol.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:11 PM ^
Changing up the PP, and it's a little more successful than their umbrella they ran for the first couple. One last break before even strength.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
Is it just me or is Franzen looking slow and sluggish out there tonight? He didn't leave the zone in time on the 2nd PP and then a weak bump from a Canuck knocks him off the puck.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:15 PM ^
Wings outshot 17-5, and went 0-3 on the PP. Unfortunately for the Canucks, this is hockey and 1-0 is all that matters so far. Still, though, let's hope for some adjustments.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:25 PM ^
As much as I want to pass the wings for the Presidents Trophy, I would much rather see it not go to Vancouver. Go Wings.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:36 PM ^
Jack Johnson confirmed to Columbus pending a Jeff Carter physical
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^
Wow. I knew the Kings were desperate for some offense, but I'm not so sure that trading Jack was the way to go.
Edit: Where did you hear this?
Edit #2: I found it. http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2012/02/23/the-columbus-blue-jackets-trade-jeff-carter-to-the-la-kings-for-jack-johnson-and-a-1st/

Quincey looks pretty good in his first game with the Wings. The best part is that he will only get better with time and as his comfort level increases.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Looking a little less good after taking a couple penalties.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:50 PM ^
Very true. Both were bad penalties, but also on the marginal side. Still like what he brings to the table.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:46 PM ^
Quincey for a trip.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:48 PM ^
Damn good job getting that blocked. Very nice.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:51 PM ^
Hope they call that, I can't stand the fucking Canucks and that was most definitely a crosscheck.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:52 PM ^
Pretty clear crosscheck after the play. Can't believe they're letting them get away with that.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:53 PM ^
WTF, refs?!?! No crosscheck?? No interference???
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Ehhhhhhh.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:57 PM ^
Holy shit. These refs suck.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
And Vancouver is dumb enough to even it up like two seconds into their power play. Very nice.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
"Well, that was a good kill." LOL.
February 23rd, 2012 at 8:59 PM ^
Sedin evens it up, 1-1.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:01 PM ^
Four on three it looks like. If the puck was loose that was a good penalty to take, if not Vancouver is just being their normal dumb selves.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:01 PM ^
Shots are 23-11 Vancouver, and the refs haven't treated us well so far. We're lucky this is still tied.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
Lidstrom=awesome, things just didn't break the right way that time.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
PP getting nice angles, but no dice so far.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:08 PM ^
"Another Brick in the Wall" seems a little grim for arena rock, no?
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
I had them play it to protest the fact that your school ambitions have you reading important things instead of going to BGSU with MGoBloggers this weekend. Glad you noticed, and I hope you take that to heart.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Man, I thought we were going to get one there.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
All that beautiful pressure and nothing to show for it. 1-1 after 2 periods.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
Off the post. Damn.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:20 PM ^
Reaffirms my belief that the Wings can't stand pat at the deadline. Granted, Datyuk is out, but a right handed point shot would be nice. Hate to say this, but I kinda miss Mikael Samuelsson.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Sorry, grammar police.
February 23rd, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
Quincey!!!
