Per Twitter: Narduzzi (DC) To Stay at MSU

Submitted by Fhshockey112002 on

Per multiple twitter accounts, it seems MSU Defensive Coordinator  Pat Narduzzi will stay at MSU.  He had interviewed with Texas A&M for the same postion earlier this week.

Edit 2: Was rumored to be offered $600,000 to $750,000 at Texas A&M where at MSU his current salary (prior to expected raise) is $240,000

Do you realize how bad the depth will be in the trenches next year?  Does everyone somehow forget that freshmen are not going to be very effective against deep and experienced lines that MSU or other teams will field?  Next year is going to be rough sledding in the trenches.  You might as well start getting used to it now.

Depth is deffinatly a concern, and we cannot weather too many injries especailly at the tackle spot.  But a little luck and we could be OK.  Plus we also have some high-ceiling type walk-ons that could provide some valuable depth if they develop some more until our current recruting class matures.

errrr... what?  Just because they replace talent doesn't mean the talent will drop off.  They have Arnett (likely), Burbridge, Fowler (if healthy) and other underclassman that have seen the field stepping in.  This reminds me a lot of last year when everyone chirped that because Greg Jones and Rucker were leaving, the defense would go down the crapper.  Look what happened.

Their QB is expected to be better than Cousins, almost the whole O Line comes back, and Bell is a solid running back.  Their O will be just fine in 2012.

I still remember the foolish comments Narduzi made after our msu game.. that they were looking to get in fights and were surprised at not having gotten more penalties.

I say this - Narduzzi's staying will come back and haunt the MSU program

"Prior to Texas A&M aggressively pursuing Pat Narduzzi, (MSU Athletics Director) Mark Hollis had already identified the financial resources to make sure that not only Pat, but all of our assistant coaches, had salaries that are competitive in the Big Ten. " - Mark Dantonio regarding Pat Narduzzi's decision

I wonder what "competitive in the Big Ten" means exactly as coordinators go. I couldn't find a great  reference for the figures, but I somehow don't think it is Mattison money that Narduzzi was offered to stay, if he was even given some additional incentive. If it were an HC job, somehow I don't think Twitter blows up with reports of him staying at MSU, since we know the SEC is sometimes willing to pay Sultan Of Brunei money to coaches in comparison to other conferences.

EDIT: Found the salaries of the top 10 highest paid coordinators and assistants in the B1G from last year. It comes out to an average of $317,148.80.

to have such a thin skin about Michigan. Since 1949, the only conference opponent with more wins against us than MSU is Ohio State, and the difference isn't that great: 26 (MSU) wins versus 32 (OSU) wins.

I've been tired of the little brother stuff for quite a while, but it's only kept alive by their inability to let it go. If MSU didn't mention it at every opportunity (and if Dantonio wasn't such a dickbag) the whole meme would die a quiet death.

Unlike many around here, or Sam Webb, I don't think the arrival of Hoke and Meyer means that MSU will sink to the level it had under Muddy Waters or John L. Smith. Dantonio may be sanctimonius hypocrite in addition to being a dickbag, but he's a solid coach who's assembled a decent staff.

Speaking of which, does not St. D. bear a resmblance to President Logan? I have a couple of pictures to compare them, but do not have the temerity to test my skillz by posting them. He looks more like the 24 bad guy than does Mike Huckabee.

Sometimes heading for greener pastures is a good thing. It can be like gettting out of the kitchen when it gets too hot! Narduzzi should have taken the job at A&M to coach in the SEC. Commendable to stay, respect loyal coaches, but this will be our year. The clock has run out and I think the players know it. Edwin Baker, gone. Did not see that at all. Jerel Worthy, irreplaceable. The two guys that killed us the last few years, along with Cousins, Cunningham, and Martin, also all gone. You usually cannot win with five playmaker veterans leaving the program. Must really like it in East Lansing. I actually thought it was a smart move in case the pair ever get a chance to move to another conference. They should soon because I think their days our numbered in East Lansing for continued success especially with our Sugar Bowl win and #3 recruiting class.

Despite the extra cash, can you imagine being a D coordinator for a Sumlin coached team? That defense will not get any rest since their O takes 3 minutes to score. Tough job, especially playing in the SEC.
