NCAA 2010 - PS3 Dynasty

Submitted by emmekel on
I am going to start a PS3 online dynasty tonight. I would like to add some mgobloggers to the league. Please respond with your gamertag and the team you want to play with. I will be playing with Oklahoma. You will get your invite tonight after 7pm central.

<rant> I just want to say that if it's the norm in this league to pull rinky-dink, run back 20 yards on pass attempts instead of even pretending to use the pocket, then I'm out. It's one thing to scramble, it's another to run backwards and just wait for the inevitable defensive breakdown. I figured people were going to play at least semi-realistically, or I'd have picked a team that wasn't actually difficult to play and at a talent/recruiting disadvantage right out of the gate. </rant> It's just frustrating ya know. I mean, sure, it works. I get it. This is how the game is played online. I see Shipley on Texas has 90% of his team's catches. Demps has 90% of his team's yards for Florida. I don't know, is calling guaranteed touchdown everytime any fun? I thought we were going to play this like real football. So, aside from my rant above, if this is not the case, then I'd prefer to no longer participate, and will gladly hand my spot over to someone that wants it.

It was me that he played, but I didn't really do anything I thought was ridiculous. I'm sorry he felt as if I cheated him out of a win or played cheap, but I don't think I did that much wrong. On a few plays, the Dline was rushing me, so yeah i scrambled backwards to get away from them. I tried running the ball and that didn't work. I'm pretty sure I've stopped doing the stuff I did against him, but I didn't think it was that big of a deal at the time. I will say, though, that the way he plays annoyed me too. He did a good amount of scrambling and option plays. I understand that is the way GT plays, but I have to think that Tyrod Taylor plays the same way in games.

I used the /rant "tag" above because I was pissed at the time, and I'll clear up some more things now. I don't feel like you cheated me out of a win; you still had to make plays to win, and you did. The issue is that it felt very, I don't want to say unfair, because that's not it...it wasn't a level playing field is what it felt like. Immediately running to the sideline, or 20 yards backwards on a pass play essentially breaks the game. Like I've said, you can sit back with the QB 10 yards behind the LoS, and 3 defenders will stand 5 yards off the LoS watching. Then if I'm lucky I select one of those players and get to try to open field tackle the QB one on one. It's not exactly an exploit, but it's pretty cheap and not what is intended. As for how I play, there are two key issues. One, the flexbone is designed to work like that. Option passes are different that just throwing on the run. If you try it out in exhibition, you'll see that the QB takes about 1.6 seconds to set and be able to throw after you hit 'X' to bring up the receiver list. Running the option is not equivalent in any way to the things I was not thrilled with. The second issue is my scrambling. A couple times, sure, but I actually stayed in the pocket until it was clear nothing was open, then I either ran forward through the line, or cut sideways and up. I never ran backwards. You are correct that GT plays are designed a certain way, and even that Tyrod Taylor does freelance a bit. However, he doesn't take shotgun snaps and immediately run 20 yards out of the pocket to establish a new one, and in an environment where the defense is clueless how to react. I think this is all a moot point now, as we discussed it after the game, and you were impressively open to debate (I really expected you to say QQ noob or something and just ignore the issue, so kudos), and you said you've stopped doing these things frequently.

You had me beat, fair and square, and then you pull that BS? What was that all about? If you were playing the computer, you would have gotten serious sportsmanship penalties for shenanigans like that. I am NOT pleased. This stinks of Shock's previous complaint - play the game like it's real football. 10 pt lead, 1:30 left, you've just recovered my failed onside attempt around the 40, and you call back to back passing plays? With the best running QB of all time? You could have run out the clock on that drive, but you rubbed my nose in it instead. After the back-to-back pass plays produce a TD, you fake an onside kick? If not for the final 1:30 of that game, I would have pleasantly congratulated you on the excellent win, and felt good about it. You DID beat me fair and square, and did it well. Now, I'm calling you out for your petty bush-league BS. Thanks for ruining my night.

I'm leaving this afternoon for the weekend; I won't return until PM on Labor Day itself. I tried to copy my Dynasty to a flash drive so I could play it while I'm at my buddy's house (he's got a PS3 too, it should work), but NCAA10 files disallow copying. NCAA09 files copy just fine; I don't know why EA doesn't want me to play my Dynasty at my friend's house. When I get to my friends, I'll sign into his PS3 under my account name; maybe it will let me download the dynasty that way. If not, go ahead and sim my game against smassie03.

How about we just ask Emmekel to delay the week until Tuesday night? That way people can enjoy the weekend. I know he extended last week by a day, else my game against FSU would have been simmed.

My PS3 is broken and NCAA was stuck in there. It accidentally simmed one of the bowl weeks I think right before it turned off. I am hoping to get another PS3 and a another copy of the game this weekend.

I am not sure if the dynasty is saved on the PS3 network because I am so smart and didn't back up my damn hard drive so I have lost everything. NOTE TO EVERYONE. BACK UP YOUR PS3 HARD DRIVE RIGHT NOW IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY. I am an idiot because I was using my PS3 hard drive as a backup for all of my music, photos and video but I didn't back up any PS3 related items. This makes me sad.
