Carson Palmer traded to Raiders

Too bad. I hear Pryor wants to be on the field so he can help them guys.
October 18th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
more to do with Jason Campbell being hurt than it has anything to do at all with Pryor. Palmer is a 32-year-old QB in decline. Pryor will get his chance eventually if he earns it in practice.
October 18th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Palmer IIRC is 31.
October 18th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
corrected. What I saw on Twitter might have said soon-to-be 32. Either way, I think the general premise of my comment does still stand.

Who cares about Pryor.
October 18th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
I only want to talk about Michigan players.

everybody makes acquisitions. trades for you, trades for me.
October 18th, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
just shows how much faith they have in TP as a NFL QB.
October 18th, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
I'm not sure that trading for a guy with somewhere between 0 and 1 years left on his odometer in order to not play a rookie who missed basically all of pre-season is indicative of their opinion of Pryor in the least.
October 18th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Who thought TP was going to play this season was crazy. Oaklands playbook is the size of a dictionary, I would bet he isn't even half way through.
October 18th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
Tressel had to dumb down the playbook for Pryor at OSU. If Pryor couldn't handle OSU's playbook, I don't know how he is going to be able to handle the Raiders. He doesn't seem like the brightest cookie in the box...... in my opinion..

Pryor is a TE. He could be a great one. The sooner he realizes it, the better. I hope the playbook is a lot easier to memorize at TE than at QB.
October 18th, 2011 at 5:49 PM ^
Felony Bengals and Pryor joing together with the criminal Raiders will be able to teach Dantoni-no! a thing or two about killing and cheating i am sure. I bet theyll hire him as there next coach! how classic would that be?

You know....I'm going to miss this guy!

Pryor was not going to play this year. Something tells me Palmer is a stopgap solution.
October 18th, 2011 at 6:36 PM ^
just a stopgap. You would think they could have gotten Garrard or somebody off the trash heap for next to nothing if that's all they wanted.
Al might have been TP's only fan in Oakland.
October 18th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
He is having back surgery to repair disc issue
October 18th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
Garrard is a stop gap. Carson Palmer, and trading away a 1st and 2nd rounder isn't a stopgap. They traded for him to he their QB for the next 4-5 years. Pryor by then will either no longer be on the team or switched positions odds are.
October 18th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
Pryor will get his time.
October 19th, 2011 at 1:33 AM ^
I could see his ceiling as being about as successful as Troy Smith
October 18th, 2011 at 9:49 PM ^
Help me here...so TP is now behind a guy who couldn't do jack squat with a team that's now 4-2 and being led by a QB who was barely recruited out of high school and was all but written off by all of the draft experts coming out of college?
October 19th, 2011 at 12:01 AM ^
QB who was barely recruited out of high school and was all but written off by all of the draft experts coming out of college?
Yeah, actually that sums up a lot of successful NFL QBs...Brady was recruited out of HS but the rest is pretty much the same
October 19th, 2011 at 8:30 AM ^
Rodgers wasn't recruited out of high school either. He started at a juco.
October 18th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
If it wasn't Palmer it was gonna be Kyle Boller anyway. Pryor at quarterback is a lottery ticket, nothing more.

... are definitely a potential playoff team. Why would they play someone evryone knows will never be an NFL QB over trying to trade for a proven winner. I think Palmer has a lot left and just gave up playing in Cinci. Can't blame him to say but also can't accept it from him and would never want him on my team. He's the QB equivalent of Randy Moss.
If the Raiders don't get Palmer their shot at the playoffs goes to 0%.
October 19th, 2011 at 9:08 AM ^
I don't get the "can't blame Palmer for wanting to leave Cinci" meme. The Bengals are far from a model franchise but they did manage to provide Palmer with two (2) All-Pro seasons and two (2) division championships (the last of which he had very little to do with).
It pains me to say this, but a certain amount of credit should go to the Bengals for getting out from under Palmer's contract by getting a 1st round pick and an additional 2nd/possible 1st. The deal apparently became possible because of the Bengals (and Palmer's) relationship with Raiders HC Hue Jackson - former Bengals and USC staffer.
October 19th, 2011 at 9:14 AM ^
I think the argument goes something like "don't sign a contract that commits you for 4 years and pays you an immediate $20 million bonus, then complain about being there after 2".
He didn't have to take their money, and be obligated to them. He did take it, so he was. Then he said "trade me or I retire".
October 19th, 2011 at 9:37 AM ^
This was a good move by the Bengals. It won't be a really high pick but they got very good value for a player who was going to end up leaving eventually anyway. They held out until the last day and maximized their position.
