Mel Pearson has the Huskies humming with a weekend sweep of Wisconsin

Senior captain Brett Olson tallied the game winner just 20 seconds into the extra session to give Tech its fourth straight win to start the season-the first time the program has started 4-0 since its national championship season of 1974-75.
I don't know what Mel's long term plans are, but it seems like whenever Red decides to hang them up, a solid Head Coaching resume will be required of his successor.
Oh and Tom Anastos with MSU is 1-3

That's vintage. My old man went to Tech and pines for the good old days.
Actually took me up there numerous times in high school trying to get me to go there.
I like beer, but I also enjoy females. Tough break.

THIS.
Went there my freshman year without ever visiting...big mistake. Transferred after one year. There's like a 6:1 M:F ratio there and there's only one type of woman there: snow cow.

So here's the thing about girls at Tech. Yes the male to female ratio at Tech is like 4:1 but the majority of the guys are anti social or just not the type of guy you have to worry competing for a girl with. So the adjusted male to female ratio is probably like 2:1, It can be rough at times but I never had any problem finding girls.
Thank God for Volleyball players.

This is why I love MGoBlog. We just got some advanced dating scene stats at Michigan Tech from blacknblue! I will definitely use the "adjusted male to female ratio" in future Tech-related conversations (I have a lot of friends who went to Tech) and will give proper credit to blacknblue. It's so appropriate.
The only thing missing, though....Chart?

I hear ya on the volleyball girls...I'll add 'select' sorority girls to that mix also (DZ's or D-phers mostly).
I was one of the guys who was overly social (switched from ME to MIS freshman year), to the detriment of my GPA and relationship with my parents.

I contemplated going there but distance was the determining factor. I have worked with several MT grads. Good engineering school, ton of snow every year.

I was at Tech for six years and finished with two degrees. It's the entire reason I am a hockey fan. The hockey fans up their are awesome as anybody who has ever been to a GLI probably already knows.
With that being said don't expect this type of winning to keep up. Tech has been getting better players but still is not the type of team that can afford to have any injuries or not play more or less perfect. But I hope they can stay competitive.

I was a hockey fan before thanks to Michigan and Red Wing teams that were historically good in my formative years, but Tech games are something else - the level of fan involvement for a program that hasn't been good since before I was born + a certain level of drunkeness that most social Tech students end up perfecting, made for a great hockey atmosphere.
That fandom always extended to GLI also, where there would always be a good turnout and a number of Tech fans traveling from all over the Midwest to watch us get our asses handed to us more times than not.

The local Madison, WI paper ran a two-day hockey obituary after Tech swept the Badgers last weekend. Both hockey articles ran statements like "before an announced crowd of 2,9XX spectators" (don't recall the exact number, but it was near 3,000). This is nostaglic barn hockey. I may need to trek up to Houghton to catch a series in the dead of winter. It's the only big-time sport in town (although they do field some competitive DII women's and men's teams).
