OT: Woman on GOP Ticket?

John McCain picks Palin, governor of Alaska as his VP?  What?

Why do I feel this is locking McCain in as the winner already?

why abortion is not ok but war is. does it matter whose baby it is?????  the kneejerk reaction is NO, a complicated answer is it depends.....

life is complicated --if one believes in individual freedoms--like carrying a gun, deciding your own religion, and educating one's children--then why is deciding what to do or not do with one's own body a bad thing?

on the other hand, if you believe in Christian values like caring for one another and being your brother's keeper then why wouldn't you oppose war, support universal policies for the good of all, love all despite differences?

I just don't get it and all this politics stuff make my head really really hurt.

Something I've noticed about Palin similar to what you are talking about is how she is Pro-Choice, yet also pro-capital punishment. Pro-Life, but anti- universal children's healthcare and more spending on education of all levels. Who care's about the kid's who are already born, they can fend for themselves or suffer the consequences of their parents' missteps, we only care for the unborn. The Christian Right is highly contradictory and I wonder why Christians are so gung-ho Republican anyway. Jesus would most certainly not be a Republican (and most likely not a Dem either) today.

I find it funny/infuriating when my church brings people to speak to the congregation about the hot topics in politics...I didn't come to mass to hear political agenda dude, sit down. It's ridiculous. How is it okay to cherry pick what Christian values matter more than others? That's what frustrates me about the Christian Right's stances on certain things. Start a Christian populist movement or don't vote based on your religious views at all. Not that this is all directed towards Palin specifically, but it's just extremely contradictory and absurd. End of rant.

Jay - I don't, at all, mean this as an insult:

You should start a "What Really Grinds my Gears" feature/blog. The depth and passion of your hatred for things is admirable.

The people of each public school district should decide on the cirriculum of its own schools. If the parents in that particular district don't have a problem with creationism being taught alongside evolution in the classroom, than neither do I. Its really none of our fucking business.

By the way, I would consider a person who has pledged to give untold billions of dollars in US taxpayer money to help fund that unconstitutional, evil, corrupt monstrosity known as the United Nations a fucking wackjob as well. That person would be good ole Fuckface himself, Barack DoucheBama.
