OT? - Live Mascot at the Eastern Game Yesterday
As some of you may know, I have been doing photography for an Eastern blog. This has given me field access at Rynearson (and the Big House, which I'm still geeked about). Yesterday at the Eastern game, they had a live eagle before the game. It was from the Leslie Center in Ann Arbor.
As I was watching it, I was thinking how cool it would be to see a live wolverine at Michigan Stadium. And of course...pictures.

Wolverines are dangerous. Worst of all, they are unpredictable. It would be a tragedy waiting to happen. Totally not cool.
But I really like your photography work.

they'd obey.

I realize that. That eagle was looking like he was trying to get away yesterday though.

they tried that a few decades ago and it didn't work out well.

Yeah I know that story but with the talk earlier about a cartoon mascot..
I still thought it was cool to see a live eagle at the game....rather than the...bah, they've got 3 wins, I can't make jokes about the team yet.

And nice choice to switch mascots to Eagles. Certainly more PC than asking for live Huron to attend the game. Too soon?

It's funny you should mention that. The remaining Huron tribes had no problem with the name. But I'm pretty sure like the Miami Tribe for Miami Ohio an the Chippewas, they probably wanted some changes.

San Diego State had a real live Aztec on its sideline. Had a feather hat and everything.

CAW!
On a wildlife note, I think it's really encouraging to see the comeback that the American Bald Eagle has made over the past few years..

Up by my mom's there is a pair that has been living there for a couple years now. Every so often, I get to see one of them out. I think this year, they had babies. Last winter, there were a bunch of eagles near that nest and somewhere on my blog there is a picture with at least 11 of them on the trees around there. It is pretty cool. And to think that almost 20 years ago, they were pretty close to writing the species off.

Hurons is an amazing mascot. Eagles, not so much. If everything checks out with the vested interests, EMU should go back to its heritage.

No mascot needed ....I think we've been over this..Just say NO!!!!

They should get Jack Hannah to bring the wolverine out, that guy is crazy. The other day he brought out a capybara on Letterman that looked like he was trying to eat his arm. True, he would probably lose a leg, the wolverine would escape, and Denard would have to unleash all 32 teeth to calm the animal down. Naah. How about frisbee dogs?
In all seriousness, what can you accomplish with a mascot that cannot be accomplished with frisbee dogs at halftime? Your wife and kids will be dragging YOU to the games.

My sister in law lives in Haslett(East Lansing) and I dont hold it against her(biggest Michigan flag on the block) . I think Hannah moved to Columbus for his daughter's leukemia treatment.
Tangentally, Ann Arbor finally has a 7-11, now how about that zoo?

Everyone always loves it when one of the dogs pops a squat during the show too. Frank Reynolds said it best, poop is funny.
