QUICK MGoSurvey - Who will be attending games this year?
I created a quick onnline survey in hopes that you all will take about 30 seconds of your time to fill it out when you are able. I'm curious as to how many MGoMembers plan on attending at least one game this year compared to their age and distance from the Big House, in particular. I think the results will be interesting and I plan on publishing them in a Diary entry some time after everyone has time to take the survey. Link? Link:

Thanks in advance for participating.
Sorry in advance to those that get annoyed by survey solicitations (I'm usually one of those people but I love MGoSurveys for some reason).

I would give my left testice to go to the OSU game this year. I already have quadruplets and an extra testicle so it wouldn't be a big deal....
Seriously though, I tried to convince my brother to take the time off to go with me but he wasn't up for it. I swear next time the game is in AA I am going if I have to do it by myself!

I finally found a ticket to the ND game and am so excited to attend. I try to get back for a game once each year but its a pretty expensive weekend with the flight and ticket cost. I think its going to cost me around $750 to make it to the ND game.

Can you give us a break down for all of your expenses for the ND game?

Are you really interested in knowing?

I think I would take a few days and drive though. I love driving in the States because your highways are so much nicer than ours. Plus, I haven't done a great deal of traveling in the border states so it would be a chance to see them as well.
I would also take a day or two in AA to see the sites as I have never been. My uncle did his PhD at UM in the 70's so I am trying to convince him he should make the trip with me as well. I am hoping one caves pretty soon. The night game would be an awesome game to see live.
What are hotels like in AA expense-wise?

I'm jealous over how many people here are going to the ND game.
I live only 28 miles from Ann Arbor. All I need is one little ticket. But I'm broke. I had a dream a couple weeks ago that 2 tickets for this game just fell from heaven into my lap. Why can't real life be like that?
I expect to read a ton of stories here about how great the atmosphere is for this game. Don't leave anything out.

If you need a ticket, I'm selling a great sideline seat in the first 30 rows.

I'm 0-8 in road games over the last three years.

Please, never go to an away game again.
September 1st, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
Are you the least bit surprised by this? In the last 3 years we've won at Minnesota (2008), at Notre Dame (2010), at Indiana (2010), and at Purdue (2010). I wouldn't exactly call this guy a jinx.....
September 1st, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
Exactly. Only one of the eight game was close (MSU in 09). Everything else has been 10+ point losses with 3 or 4 over 20.
September 1st, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
But I don't think my presence contributed to the 2008 loss to OSU.

Will be at all home games and one away....its been a family tradition. Will be on golf course at 7am sat....CANT WAIT

I will be going to the Red River Shootout....Yes I am from Toledo, my bro-in-law is a boomer sooner fan.
September 1st, 2011 at 10:36 AM ^
I PLAN to go to all the home games this year.
The last couple years, though, I have done something I've never done before. I have missed some games (both at home and on TV) for no other reason than I didn't want to watch them. I just couldn't stand watching us getting our asses handed to as as badly and as frequently as we did. I love Michigan football, but I'm sane enough to admit that when an activity (one that, in theory, is for FUN) causes you that much stress and heartache, it's best to step back and leave it alone.
I have great hopes that this year will be better. I'm not demanding a Big 10 championship... I just want to see a team that looks like it is learning from its mistakes when it makes them and getting better as it goes.

What a true fan.
September 1st, 2011 at 11:32 AM ^
I figured I might get this reaction from someone.
I am a true fan. I have literally gone to Michigan games, at home and on the road, since BEFORE I was born (I attended the 1981 Blue Bonnet Bowl as a 6-month old fetus). I have a lot of great memories and a lot of terrible ones. I was at the Rose Bowl in 1998 when we won the National Championship. In 2000 when Anthony Thomas fumbled against Northwestern I punched the cinder block wall of my dorm room in Markley Hall so hard my knuckles were deformed for a year afterward. I was at Michigan State in 2001, in the immediate aftermath of which my companions were concerned that I was giving myself an anurism as I shouted obscenities as the veins bulged out of my head. In 2002 I watched Phil Brabbs finally make a field goal and beat Washington. In 2006 I saw Henne hit Manningham in the end zone in front of me from the same seats I'll be sitting in on Saturday.
Two thirds of my clothing is Michigan-branded, as is as much of the rest of my possessions as my wife will allow. My three-year old daughter can sing The Victors, thinks The Yellow and The Blue is a lullaby, and knows that cows say "moo", chickens say "cluck", and buckeyes say "would you like fries with that?".
I'm not the guy that hated Rodriguez from the get-go, or the guy that won't get over the fact that he's gone. I'm just somebody that wants Michigan football to be a thing that makes me happy, rather than a thing that makes me so miserable that for my own health and for the health and happiness of those around me, I have to avoid it.

Fair weather fan. Heart attack or bust.

I would love to go to an away game and mingle with Michigan fans outside Ann Arbor. What I don't want is to be harassed while I'm with my girlfriend or lose my temper if I'm with friends. Maybe I should start at a a Northwestern, Purdue game and move up to attending Ohio State or Wisconsin.
Also, I plan to be going to all the home games this year I am not working. I'll be working this Saturday. As far as Nebraska and OSU go, I hope to switch my schedule around in order to attend those games and get to Ann Arbor. Football season is my favorite season of them all (3 season: football season, hockey season, and golf season)
September 1st, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
Northwestern's definitely a good place to start. The stadium's always half full of Michigan fans anyhow, and what Northwestern fans there are are pretty mild.

When I lived in Iowa, we went to the Michigan games there. I have to say that although there was quite of bit of verbal sparring with my collegues before the game, the fans were very polite! After one game where Michigan won, as we were leaving fully bedecked in Michigan gear, the opposing fans would say "Good game!" I was pleasantly surprised.
September 1st, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
Being from Indiana, I've been to a few Purdue games and always wore all Michigan gear with no problems. One year I went with my ex (who was a Purdue fan) when she got her grandfather's tickets in the alumni section. No one said a word to me even when I was the only one cheering in that section. Afterwards, we went to a houseparty to get a few drinks (I knew one other person there) and no one in the house gave me shit for my attire either. I'd say it's a good place to start.

My sister attended a Wisconsin game and she honestly said the Wisky fans were some of the nicest people ever. Her and her boyfriend at the time were walking and were like 3 miles from the stadium and a group of Wisconsin fans gave them a ride to the stadium and asked them to tailgate with them and didn't give them any shit. So I think if you are going to upgrade to any stadium away atmosphere it should be Ohio and MSU. Just my two cents

Living in Wisconsin it is tough to get to home games, but I attend at least one away game per year. This year will be Illinois. My first time there.
September 1st, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
I live in Chicago and am attending Western, ND (I need Tix!!!), SDSU, Nebraska, OSU. I'm heading up to Evanston to watch the UM/NU game. I'm excited to see another Big Ten venue (only other place I have been is Camp Randall).
I'm pumped up for this season. I don't expect this team to be world beaters, but I have a good feeling about the direction this program is headed. No predicitions, but we will have a solid squad this year with a respectable record.

Going to all home games, and live about 2 1/2 hours away. Still looking to sell a great sideline seat to notre dame in the first 20 rows.

Will I be flying all the way from Dallas for 3-4 games? Yes
Will I be attending 1-2 Away games? Yes
Am I going to be a broke f*cker at the end of the season when I buy tickets and fly up to Indy for the first Big 10 champtionship game featuring our boys in blue? Hell yes

I'm going to SDSU (Home), MSU (Away), Northwestern(Away).. solid

I'm in PA making my first trip to Ann Arbor for 3 games (WMU, SDSU, and Nebraska). I've been to 3 away games '06 PSU '08 PSU and '10 PSU. It's interesting, I've seen the career school record holder in rushing yds (Hart), passing yards (Henne), team with the worst school record in 50 years ('08) and Denard ('10). A lot of up and down for me-but worth every dollar.
September 1st, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
I am leaving in the morning for the mitten and will be catching the first two games. I am also considering the OSU game. My friend and I split the season tickets and OSU is mine (so have four tix) but I cant figure out if I should stay in GA and spend the Thanksgiving holidays with my wife and continue to save the $ for the new house and baby OR be me and go to the game and say heck with the $ for the plane ticket, all expenses, and the $ I could get for the tix. I am leaning towards the game and when we win I know that I will never let myself forget it if I dont go. Trying to be a responsible adult is a very difficult decision at times.

I'll be at every game this year except for the Eastern game. Cant wait for Saturday!!!!!

I currently have tickets to all 12. Who needs studying senior year anyway?

Moving to Kentucky in 2 weeks and depending on the job situation (wife's job is making us move) I hope to be back for Minny and Purdue games (already sold EMU). You can bet your ass I will be there for ND come hell or highwater even if I land a job between now and 9/10.
I also have 4 tickets to the Championship game so hopefully Hoke and the boys can give me a hell of early christmas present.

Heading out from Seattle with my family to watch the EMU game this year. Was at UMass game last year and we enjoyed it so much, decided to do it again.
I also got the OSU game tix, but did not realize it was on Thanksgiving week. Not sure I can make that one... (don't PM me about the tix, there is already a line of people who want them if I cannot go).
