Michigan Football Players Participate in the David Mealer Memorial Golf Classic
This Ryan Autullo article in the Toledo Blade tells the story of the second annual David Mealer Memorial Golf Classic held this weekend. Thirty-two Wolverine football players participated in the event which honors the late David Mealer, father of Brock and Elliott. Proceeds support two organizations that have assisted Brock, in his effort to walk again -- Project Walk and Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, OH.
Taylor Lewan was one of 32 Wolverines helping at the 2nd annual event. THE BLADE/AMY E. VOIGT
Taylor Lewan looks dapper. Great post - so glad we're continuing to give back to this family.
My brother played in this outing with Stokes and Hemingway. He said he had a great time. Unfortunately I had a commitment I couldn't break, but I'm glad he got a chance to play and show support for U of M and the Mealers.
Wow 32 guys is a great turnout for an event in another state. I think it shows the unity on this team.
Thats only 8 foursomes. Brandywine CC is right off of 23 in Toledo (Maumee actually) and is about 50 minute- hour trip from campus. I wish I knew about this because I would have showed up as I live in an apt on the course and have many ties there.
There is no mention of total participants for the event.
Misread that then
Still angry after all this time?
It is the summer, lots of people have other things to do, this is a good turnout from the football team, very happy to see the support for the Mealer family still.
OSU Homework Test:
Helping out w/ Charity Golf Event=Good
Being a "guest" of a shady character at the local country club for dolla dolla bills=Bad
Circle which one you should do
Glad to see the continued support for the Mealer family.
32 is a great turnout. the article also lists some other notable wolverines in attendance:
Kevin Koger, Patrick Omameh, Will Hagerup, Ryan Van Bergen, J.B. Fitzgerald, Kenny Demens, Junior Hemingway, Jared Van Slyke, and Je’Ron Stokes. Offensive line coach Darrell Funk also attended.
"The scramble-format brought together 27 teams of 108 golfers."
makes the team participation even more impressive. No wonder recruits are impressed by the feeling of family on the practice field. It's obviously genuine.
