Womens BBall Snubbed
WBB had a great year. Certainly disappointing, but the Vest spending the next few months holding his ankles will keep me content for the time being.
It's disappointing they didn't get in but not really that surprising given the four "bad" losses and the less-than-stellar finish. Second straight year on the wrong side of the bubble.

They have the chance to be WNIT champs.
It does suck, though, and with the Crisler work, we can't necessarily say, oh well, home field advantage.

They certainly have a better chance at getting a banner in the WNIT than the NCAAs.
So, has construction actually started on the inside of Crisler, meaning they definitely can't host any games?
EDIT: Answering my own question: Michigan to play at EMU on Thursday, so I guess Michigan won't be hosting any games. WNIT bracket here.
As of Sunday, many gold-section seats had already been removed. I suppose they could have played on for women's basketball (since it usually only fills the blue ones), but it sounds like they won't bother.
The odd thing is that Michigan is hosting one of the women's gymnastics NCAA regionals on April 2, so it's clear they could have used Crisler for the WNIT if they had wanted to. That regional is likely to draw a much larger crowd than any WNIT game would have.
You are right, not that anyone sits in the gold for either. The only thing I can think is that there is activity underway they would rather get wrapped up before Regionals and cleaning up for crowds each night during the WNIT would put that in danger of running over.

lost in their 1st game of the BTT didn't help them. IMO, if they had won that game, they would be in.

Ever since they got into that tie for first in the conference they started to backslide. I haven't looked at the women's bracket, but it's hard to call it a snub from what I don't about the team this year. We had our chances to clinch a bid and we didn't.

"Coach, you didn't have enough quality wins."
Michigan actually had more quality wins than some of the bubble teams that were selected, including Middle Tennessee and Dayton. It was really the four bad losses that did them in because those losses also pushed their RPI down well below several bubble teams that earned berths.
Side note: Detroit News story confirms that Michigan won't be hosting any WNIT games because of work at Crisler:
"We'd be very excited with the opportunity to play in the WNIT," Borseth said. "We won't be able to host, though, since they're doing some work in Crisler."
Later, Michigan learned that it will play Eastern Michigan at Eastern Thursday in the WNIT. St. Bonaventure is the No. 1 seed in the regional.
The game against EMU will be at 7 pm.
I LOL'd when i read the title of this thread.
