I did not make this headline up
I know all of our basketball tournament brackets are incinerated so here's your 2nd chance. USCHO hosts a pick'em every year for some modest prizes, but the fun is in the bracket. You think picking basketball is hard? I've had years where my coin flip bracket did better than my actual one for the hockey tournament.
In case you're wondering how to pick, BCInterruption has had a few good posts on trends for teams and past tournaments:
I've got Tech, Providence, Minnesota, and Minnesota-Mankato in the Frozen Four with Mankato winning it all. The tournament starts Friday.
7:30 on FSD, still no Datsyuk. Should be a win for the Wings, if Arizona keeps tanking.
I'm drinking Oberon (missed it yesterday) and maybe a Guinness later.
The Red Wings apparently are going to let Larkin decide whether he wants to begin his pro career now or later.
Larkin, 18, could leave and immediately play for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League or wait and start fresh in Wings training camp next season.
I thought someone said here that he would have to jump straight to the NHL if he left now, but apparantly the Wings are saying that he could join the Griffs for their post season run right now if he wants to.
From the comment section at Kukla's Korner, in response to the AHL rule about North American Players not being allowed to play in the AHL until they are 20 years old...
That rule applies to players drafted out of the CHL (OHL, WHL, QMJHL), not college players. And doesn’t care about your nationality, just where you play when you’re drafted.
So apparantly Larkin CAN leave as soon as he chooses.
Hopefully this motivates the team to do well in the regular season so they do not have to win the B1G Tournament to get in.
Send Red off the right way. We say it every year, they have the talent to win the whole thing.
Red Berenson said he will be back next year as long as his AD wants him.— Michael Spath (@Spath_Wolverine) March 24, 2015
Add a new name to the possible defections for @umichhockey - Andrew Copp. Think it's 50-50 right now.— Michael Spath (@Spath_Wolverine) March 24, 2015
Not sure if anyone has seen this, but Max Pacioretty put his acting skills to the test in Boston. He promoted the "Max 67" burger, and Bruins fans agree that "Max 67 is AWESOME!
let's look at some of the info here.
- Contract does not expire after this season.
- Made spontaneous comment out of nowhere about being on the Michigan bench a year ago, later dismissing it as a joke.
- this posted in a front page post by Brian back when those comments were made-
- He's God
Red Berenson has two years left on his contract and says this will be his last one. Speculation about his replacement has been rife. Veritably so. Folks around the program have been chattering about football coach Jim Harbaugh taking over for a few years now, primarily Michael Spath at the Wolverine but also from guys at the Daily:
people jumped up and down on here and all over the country saying Harbaugh to Michigan was a pipe dream. And it happened. Could Hackett pull it off?
