Also, I’d be surprised if anyone but the helmet-swinger got probation (unless there are prior convictions). Side note: guidelines inform sentencing but are rarely followed unless the offender is sentenced to a prison term.
Spot on. JH has demonstrated when it comes to off the field shenanigans he is going to be extremely cautious. GP has been suspended a long time and the CJ system has completed its assessment and rendered its opinion here.
I have no problem with this decision and the people comparing it to MSU or the SEC are off base. This is not a jail to practice field or half game suspension against a cupcake situation.
The kid deserves his punishment, and it's been decided by people much closer to the situation than we are that he also deserves to be reinstated.
This is the only option they had. Sure, they got themselves into the mess they're in but looking forward what could they do? Stockpiling draft picks is the only option here and unfortunately everyone else in the league knows it so they have the upper hand.
Time to stop taking flyers on late round picks in the cap era and rebuild through the draft. Being a lions fan as well, I think it's only fair to give the wings some patients and leeway to right the ship.
It's been a long time coming. I never thought Howard was a championship goalie, the league has passed the leadership by (Zetterberg, Kronwall...), and this is a team full of support players.
We thought the team would be fine after the cap was implemented because of the talent in GR but as it turns out they are what they always were - late round picks who could contribute but would never be elite in the NHL.

Peppers is a great player and had a good season but it's hard to quantify his play relative to the other candidates. Opposing teams had to game plan around him, didn't direct play in his area of the field... etc. But as any Mgoattorney will tell you, it's hard to prove intent. Not surprised he didn't win - I'm glad he's representing M at the ceremony.
