RR is like Rodney Dangerfield

He don't get no respect. I agree with your statements and think that RR is obviously still a whipping-boy for the press. Dienhart is saying RR has no impact on DRob's performance. While I appreciate the type of player he is, DRob still owes his success to being well-coached. I wish the media would pull their heads out of their 4th-point of contact.

Is there a way to save this?

Any help saving, so I have for the future would be much appreciated. Thanks!

veetle.com

I just tried veetle.com last weekend and it worked great. Not sure if you'll be able to download the software for your droid though. My buddy has used it for a couple years now and said he hasn't had any security or virus issues. However, the games are streamed from other users, so partake at your own risk. Good luck!

Second That

I was flying home from San Antonio on Delta Air and saw an advertisement in their onboard mag from Mott's Hospital that showed a newborn with a scar across her chest. This was from an in-utero cardiac procedure that was done to save her life. I couldn't help but think how amazing this was and what a great time to be affiliated with the Michigan institution. And being that it is football season I naturally thought about the team's most recent contributions to the hospital. To second nmajali's thoughts; Michigan football to me represents heart, loyalty, and above all courage. I think getting knocked off the pedestal has brought more humanity to this team than I have ever seen in the past and I believe RR is a big part of that. From "All In For Mott's" to Brock's story, this coach and this team have had a more meaningful impact on a state in shambles and I can appreciate and value that more than any number we put in the W column. If Michigan is about pride, then it is also about humility; something I think was lost to us before. Here's to a great season, but more importantly, here's to playing like TRUE Michigan Men.

Good point

I guess I'm just not familiar with the responsibilities in their 3-3-5 (I always played in a 4-3) and thought you might have some info into how it matches against the run. I suppose as long as guys can play downhill they will be fine regardless of the type of D. Anyway, thanks for the info you were able to provide.

Question for FormerWolv WRT BTN's Yarina on Michigan's D

FormerWolv,

Wanted to get your thoughts on this statement from Brent Yarina in his recap of Michigan's practice

  • What the Wolverines may have in speed and athleticism, they lack in physicality and depth. Once again, this isn't your typical Michigan unit, and it looks like it is better suited to stop offenses like its own.

"This defense will struggle against teams like Iowa and Wisconsin," Gerry DiNardo said. "They're better against the spread than they are against down-the-hill teams."

That could be bad news, with strong running teams such as Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin all on the 2010 schedule.

Everything I've read makes it sound like this is a much more physical team and while the depth issue is obvious it sounds like we're better of this year. What are your thoughts on the ability of the 3-3-5 they're playing to stop the run and the D's ability to match up in the B10? Thanks.

UM Crocs Sandals on Sale

I'm very sorry for hijacking this post, but as you can see I am new to the site and still not allowed to post a new topic. However, as I began gearing up for the season I found that Crocs are selling UM sandals on their website for $30 and it's buy one get one 50% off right now. This seemed like the best post to try to get the word out to anyone that's interested. Hopefully I don't get neg'd too bad. Thanks and here's a pic with the crocs website.

I thought the same thing

But I think a large part of that may have just been because it was a little dump pass to the running back. I can imagine it must be tough to figure out how to put touch on the ball with his new mechanics. Gotta love a nice looking long ball though.

Navy seems like a fair bet

I think they can cover the 6.5. Here's a decent preview from CFN.

I'll always cheer for the Middies when they play ND!

Dead Guy Ale and Black Butte Porter

are two of my favorites! Never been out to OR, but looking forward to getting out there when I have some time! Good to know UM fans have impeccable taste in beer!

Thanks for the tip!

I'll have to check those out when I get back for Thanksgiving. I haven't lived back home since '97, but it's good to hear that the more important industries are thriving! I was in Homer last summer and was actually really impressed with the selection at Cascarelli's. Definitely not what I expected for the area, but they had some great options. Cheers!

If you like IIPAs

You gotta try the Dogfish Head 60- or 90-minute IIPA. They're brewed in DE, so I don't know if you can get them in MI, but they're the one of the best things to come out of DE (better than their football team anyway). I'm not sure if it won any awards, but it's definitely well worth the price. Have a good drinking season!

Agreed

Haha...I'm glad I took the time to see if anyone had posted this one yet. I've had many of the beers on this list and been okay with most of them, but this one is by far the worst. I took one sip of this several years ago and that was the last one I ever had. I thought I was drinking the hand soap from a gas station bathroom!

I wasn't there for Appy St.

But I was about 10 rows up in the corner of the end zone for the '94 play from Stewart to Westbrook. Maybe it's just the fact that I was there or maybe because I was still pretty young, but that was by far Michigan's most painful loss for me. I've never been so dumbfounded in my life. I think I lost my innocence that day.

Second may have actually been the '06 loss to OSU. If only because I was hoping for a NC and the B10 was on top of the world; only to end with us and OSU getting embarrassed on the national stage, thus ushering in the era of the media questioning the caliber of the B10. At least this past bowl season was a little bit of vindication.

I think....

I think the issue more pertains to the future restrictions placed on Coach Rod himself. Here's an excerpt from Rothstein at AA.com.

  • What might change is Michigan’s approach to next week’s NCAA meeting, at least according to Michael Buckner, a Florida attorney who frequently represents universities in NCAA cases.

“For the Michigan hearing, the West Virginia Notice of Allegations will not have a direct impact on the actual proceedings of the hearing because they are separate and distinct cases,” Buckner said. “However, it’s going to be the silent entity in the hearing room. Everyone’s going to know about it but no one’s going to talk about it.

“And if I was Michigan and if I was coach Rodriguez, the West Virginia case would impact my hearing strategy.”

The reasoning behind this, Buckner said, is because the NCAA can place a “show cause” order on Rodriguez out of the Michigan hearings, which the school would then have to monitor.

And when West Virginia goes in front of the committee, if Rodriguez is found guilty there, the punishment on Rodriguez could escalate in the number of years the order is in place, the number of days he can be on the field coaching or the number of days Rodriguez can recruit off-campus. Plus, he can be found as a repeat violator during the West Virginia hearings if he has a show-cause order attached during the Michigan hearings, Buckner said.

So this makes it sound like he could be potentially limited in his time on the field at Michigan and when recruiting. Seems utterly ridiculous that our program suffers twice. I think a personal fine would be more appropriate in the WVU case. Either way, while I do agree that this is just more off-season space-filler, it is mildly concerning because anytime you lose your coach on the field it's never a great situation. In the end I'm faithful that a winning season will at the very least shut the media up.
