Nice write-up Matt.  In addition to his defensive versatility, his P&R ability is very intriguing.  I always thought Dug struggled in that area.

A team that's worse than UM…

A team that's worse than UM at defense and rebounding; whee!

Love these scheme breakdowns…

Love these scheme breakdowns; keep them coming Matt!

Is the BiG legal counsel…

Is the BiG legal counsel that incompetent or did they do this simply to ensure an injunction would be approved?

Thank god that Stalions isn't in the Marine Corps anymore; can you imagine that man leading men into combat?

Brian, you owe Craig an apology; that was uncalled for.

Patrick, your photo's are…

Patrick, your photo's are really good, but your narratives might be even better; well done.

Alex, you managed to watch…

Alex, you managed to watch and evaluate the IU offense without gouging your eyeballs out like Oedipus Rex.  Well done; you're a better man than me!

BiSB, I watched the UW/MSU…

BiSB, I watched the UW/MSU game and I'm not sure Washington had more than a couple of third downs that were meaningful; they did whatever they wanted all game long LOL.

Great work as usual.

Great work as usual.

I read "The Grapes of Wrath" in HS, and as an aside minored in C-Lit (majored in Engineering believe it or not).  Ascribing allegory to the Joad's beater truck is indeed monumentally dumb.

Mandolins are the most awesome tools in the kitchen, especially if you're making a Spanish Tortilla.

The first time I watched his…

The first time I watched his film, my thought was he looked liked the prototypical Wisconsin three star back who ends up all conference seemingly every cycle.

I get a lot of Parker…

I get a lot of Parker Washington (Penn St) vibes watching his film, or even a poor man's Desmond Howard.  He could become an outstanding punt returner.

What's really surprising to…

What's really surprising to me is that his efficiency hasn't gone down with the increased usage.

You should do more of these…

You should do more of these breakdowns Matt; they're very insightful.

I thought Reed could have slipped the screens more aggressively to create more space, but point taken.

Reminds me a bit of a poor…

Reminds me a bit of a poor man's Vince Young with his short wonky release and scrambling ability.  Good accuracy and touch as well.  Will be interesting to see how his career progresses.

Strange take on Corum IMO…

Strange take on Corum IMO Brian.  The 'Occam's razor' explanation is that he was dinged going into the game (knee, hamstring, ankle, who knows).  He didn't have the burst we've seen in the past, knew he couldn't out run the pursuit and headed out of bounds.

Whether he aggravated the previous injury or it's something new we'll likely never find out.

Not post related, but the…

Not post related, but the new pop up ad format needs to go.  It covers half my available screen space and it can be reduced but not deleted.  Pretty lame stuff Brian; I like the content, but stuff like this makes things a lot less pleasant.

I think you're selling his…

I think you're selling his competition level a bit short Seth.  While WCAC hoops is better known and is arguably the strongest prep conference in the nation, they're also no slouch at football.  St. Johns, DeMatha, Good Counsel and Carroll are perennial regional powerhouses with top level talent.

Skill-wise, he has a lot in…

Skill-wise, he has a lot in common with Braylon; hopefully that doesn't include Braylon's penchant for dropping at least one easy pass seemingly every important game.

Not a big fan of the betting…

Not a big fan of the betting angles part of the show.  Would prefer you keep in on analysis of the game.

Need to work on your idioms Seth; a high tide raises all boats.

If Wagner decides to return,…

If Wagner decides to return, UM may want to think about playing more 2-3 zone next year. With Diabate & Wagner on the wings, would be tough to get shots or passes through.

Matt, while evans eval is…

Matt, while evans eval is probably too bullish to use wall street jargon, yours IMO is a bit bearish.  My thoughts are somewhere in the middle.  I think he'll be a solid B10 player who at a minimum will be a valuable rotation player.

After watching the film on…

After watching the film on Nesbitt and Van der Heijden, totally agree with your take.  You can win a lot of games with those two on your roster.

I used to referee HS and AAU…

I used to referee HS and AAU in the DMV area (albeit 20 years ago).  The rules may have changed, but at that time, if a player was legitimately taking a shot, he could rebound his miss, even if it wasn't touched by an opponent and didn't hit the rim.

That happened in an AAU game I was officiating; I asked my colleague about it and he showed me the rule at halftime.

Brooks reminds me more of…

Brooks reminds me more of Jarron Cumberland than Williams.

Having watched a slew of B10…

Having watched a slew of B10 games over the last 3 weeks, I'm more bullish on the middle of the conference Ace.

I think Indiana, Wisconsin and Purdue have significant issues which will be tough to overcome.  That said, they're more than capable of beating better teams at their respective home arenas.

Iowa's still a good team; their fate will largely depend on whether Toussaint can pick it up; he was awful in their last outing at Cinci. They also went from having one of the deeper benches in the conference to another injury being a crisis.

I like the overall roster makeup of Penn State, Illinois, Minnesota and Rutgers.  Illinois and Minnesota need to play more consistently, but they all have some nice pieces, especially at center for the first three.  Would not be surprised if three of these teams make the tournament, possibly all four with Penn State being the best bet.

They cleared out to give…

They cleared out to give Pritchard 1v1 on Z and without any help (or late help); even a great defender like Z is going to struggle without backside help.

In that situation, I'm not sure how you can justify sitting your 7 foot senior who is one of the better pick and roll defenders in college basketball for a guy who was giving them great energy, but isn't nearly as nuanced a defensive player as Teske.

I'll reserve my judgement, but that decision baffles me.

Had the exact same thoughts…

Had the exact same thoughts re: UM's zone offense, but they've shown it in other games this year as well, not just Iowa.

Having Simpson as a legitimate 3-point option and Wagner vice Matthews helps, but they've been well organized and are attacking it aggressively whereas in previous years, they looked completely lost.

Also agree this is likely Martelli's doing as zones in the NBA are infrequent to the point of being a novelty due to the defensive rules.

I like your chile recipe; I…

I like your chile recipe; I'm more of a ground beef guy, but the pork shoulder is an interesting approach; and the chile slurry is spot on.  I generally add some coffee (redeye flavor) as well as masa harina, but like your approach.

Another calming factor for…

Another calming factor for Charbonnet; Oaks Christian plays one of the toughest schedules in the country every year.  He excelled against a very high competition level.

I'm not sure there's a good…

I'm not sure there's a good comparison from UM RBs in the last three decades.  His running style does remind me a bit of BJ Askew, though he was asked to play fullback in the later part of his career and Charbonnet has more wriggle and vision IMO.

Hopefully, things pan out and he'll be the YMRMFSPA of the future.

Darren Sproles played at…

Darren Sproles played at about 180 in college; that's the player he reminds me the most of.
