While we're all feeling pretty good, consider donating to C. S. Mott Children's Hospital.

Before the year's out, and while we're all feeling warm and fuzzy and maize and blue, consider strongly a donation to University of Michigan's C. S. Mott Children's Hospital.

http://givetomott.org/

A leader in pediatric research and care, it is one of UM's treasures, with such fine people as Dr. Valerie Castle, Pediatrician-in-Chief and Director of the Neuroblastoma research program.

Dr. Castle, and many, many, others are part of the amazing talent we are fortunate to have at Mott pediatric hospital, and it's why so many UM greats have a longstanding history of support, including Charles Woodson.

And, of course, let's also not forget Lloyd Carr's four-year-old grandson, Chad, who, despite spending his fourth birthday receiving treatment on the Coach Carr unit, is smiling and hanging tough:

Each of the links above provide other links to directly donate to Mott.  So before the year is out, those of you considering where to donate, don't forget C. S. Mott!

Thanks, and Go Blue!

You might consider making this a diary so that such a worthy cause doesn't get bumped off the board in a couple of hours by what's HAPPENING.  Because IT IS.

Thanks for the advice.  I don't post often, so I didn't want to occupy a diary slot.  But perhaps this is more appropriate there.

I don't see how to edit the post such that it goes from MGoBoard to Diaries, so if a mod feels so moved, I'd appreciate migrating this to Diaries.

Thanks!

hospital in general is amazing.  In march my mother was diagnosed with Lymphoma of the brain and spine, we were told she had 2 months and with treatment she could get 6 or 7 months to live. After months of chemo and radiation we got news that she was in remission last month.  The care she received there was just really outstanding, I will always be grateful for the extra time they have given my family with her. I made a few visits to Mott in that time, all I can say is we are lucky we have a place like this in Southeast Michigan. They will always get my money as long as I am able.

I'm still paying the bill from Mott's =( (stupid medical billing getting confused/mixed up/bounced around for months because nobody knew where to bill my kid's birth...)

My brother-in-law's wife works in the pediatric ICU there and expresses this sentiment every time I see her. It has to be emotionally draining, to be sure, and there are stories which visibly upset her when she does talk about work.

Speaking of Mott, I just made another donation - I count my blessings with two healthy kids and am always willing to help when I can.

Mott was the only UM connected entity to still get a dime from me. When I had Facebook I'd often repost their posts in hopes friends would look and maybe donate without having to worry about feeling snobbish in saying I do. I'd hope UM family/fans/friends, non-UM fans/friends & non-football fans would see it and do something but I never asked. I'd do it about twice a month. The hospital is just full of absolute CHAMPIONS, from doctors to nurses to patients. CHAMPIONS. My Sibling had their life preserving/lengthening heart surgery there. Same day the same doc turned an infant's half heart into a working whole heart! Eyes word up as he told them in the family waiting room as they were foreign & English was not their first language. I donated before that but a lot more after and to this day. AGAIN, if hired and it's at a time I can get to AA for the 100 pint giveaway, I'll go and add cash to the free beer giveaway & definitely more than match that amount for C.S. Mott. I don't say that with any arrogance or superiority.
