Go Blue, Beat ECU!
Film of the season opener from #52's senior season, Michigan travels to Camp Randall Stadium and beats the Wisconsin Badgers...
Thanks again College Football Historian. Enjoy!
Wow. Rick Leach looked horrible as a passer here. Major telegraph of his passes and a huge, ugly wind up. In 1975 he had 100 attempts and only 32 completions and 12(!) Interceptions. The 32 completions did go for over 600 yards, but woof. Still, made the Orange Bowl as a Freshman starter, and was a 1st team AA by his senior season (based on running the option, not passing). Easy to see why he chose baseball for his pro career.
Yes, Leach's passing was tough to watch there, except for the short pass to the RB for the game-sealing TD. Takes forever to get rid of the ball, and looks as out-dated as the old-style FG kicking.
OTOH the Wisconsin pass protection was... not good. Imagine if you had Aidan, Ojabo, and Mo Hurst on the same dline. Maybe that's a better indication of the effect of the change in holding rules had on the passing game.
