Recruits from Florida and Orange Bowl

What are the rules regarding recruiting when you are at bowl game? Specifically, there are 30 targets listed who are in Florida. A bunch are really transplants to IMG, but there are also several from the greater Tampa area or Orlando. There also are the following from south Florida:

  • Jalen Brown, 5 star WR from Miami, #34 on 247 sports;
  • Mark Fletcher, 4 star RB from Ft. Lauderdale, #149 on 247 sports;
  • Antonio Robinson, 4 star CB from Miami, #289;
  • Dwight Bootle II, 3 star CB from Miami, #505;
  • Derrick LeBlanc, 4 star DL from Kissimmee, #85;
  • Reuben Cain, 4 star DL from Miami, #198;
  • David Vadala, LB from Ft. Lauderdale, NR;
  • William Larkins, OL from Hollywood, NR.

I'm curious if any of these or others have visited practice this week. Can Michigan provide them with sideline passes or tickets to the game? I know that a bunch of kids OSU is recruiting have visited practices for the Buckeyes out in California, so I'm pretty sure that some amount of visiting for locals is allowed.

Obviously, we have been told that recruiting happens years in advance. These guys are all from 2023. I glanced briefly at 2024, and see Earl Kulp, a WR from Ft. Lauderdale, and Joshisa Trader, a WR from Miami. The more we can have a positive impact on recruits in the future, the better!

Id prefer the staff focused on the task at hand rather than recruiting. Win the CFP and recruiting will take care of itself

But also, no, they’re not allowed to give out sideline passes or tickets to recruits for bowl/playoff games. That’s a home field thing only, with select exemptions for permanent neutral site games like the Red River game.

I have noticed some offers going out to Miami area recruits the past week or so though, so I’m sure some recruiting is being done.
