[OT] Using the Ride (bus) to get to stadium and back

Submitted by hailhail on November 6th, 2022 at 1:26 PM

Please delete is this is too OT for a 9-0 season

I live near the Meijer on Ann Arbor-Saline Road and am going to the Nebraska game this Saturday. Our group wants to tailgate at our house and find a way to the game without parking. My initial thought was to ride the bus to the and from the game. Mind you this would be using the normal bus schedule and not the game day shuttles.

Has anyone used the Ride to get to / from a game and would you recommend it? It seems possible based on the schedules posted online, but also could be a complete shit show given post-game traffic. Here is the bus route I'm looking at: to the stadium; return from stadium.

Maybe it's the NYer in me, but for that distance I would just walk.  Google says it takes 20 minutes more but on game day it's more reliable.

I’m open to that as well. It’s about 3 miles door to door (that bus stop is about 3/4 mile from my house).

I walked back from the OSU // UM game last year and it took an hour. Not terrible esp if the weather is nice.

I’m also a bit of a transit nerd and haven’t used the ride on a game day so kind of want to give it a go.

I parked my rv at the mall and just walked to the stadium and back for the msu game. Easy peasy. I'd have taken the bus if I had mobility issues but walking makes timing arrival at the stadium more of a sure thing.

Ok. I stayed out that way years ago and walked to the game. The weather was fine. That wasn’t the issue.

Walking back was a pain. I was tired (a little liquored up) and just didn’t like the walk back as much as walking there.

Uber is an option, but like the idea of using AA public transit if it’s not a completely miserable experience on game day.

Kind of want to run the experiment and see how it goes. My guess is getting in will be fine; leaving will be a slog.

I'm of no help but it reminded me of when I was a kid, had to sit with my dad's friend, they parked at the mall, we walked. I was 10. They agreed to meet at the statue corner entrance after. Welp nobody was there. I waited half an hour. Just started walking by myself. 15 minutes in they pull up in a car. It's not a bad walk.

I'm of no help lol.

I've taken The Ride from Jackson Road a couple of times. It's not bad going there although it can be crowded depending on how early you decide to get on. Getting home is a little tougher. Depending on when you get outside the stadium, the line to get on an outbound bus can be lengthy, you might be standing on the crowded bus and you are in the same traffic getting out of there as everyone.  Easy enough to come out and try to shift to an Uber if it looks untenable.
