OT: MSU suspends women's gymnastics coach.

Submitted by redwhiteandMGOBLUE on

Michigan State University has suspended longtime women's gymnastics coach Kathie Klages in the midst of a sexual assault investigation related to former team doctor Larry Nassar, according to an email the State Journal obtained.

So much awfulness going over there it's hard to keep track.

of the Men's basketball Selection Committee???  WTF.  That explains a lot.  No wonder MSU gets the seeds they get.  If they get in this year, with the shit show they have, someone needs to cry foul about this.

I have been hearing about the Nassar case for a while now on the local news and I see MLive is not exposing the football situation at all.  MLive seems to be paid under the table to NOT report on big stories if they are local.  They have ignored potentially big scandals in Jackson for many years.

that would impel an experienced adult coach to tell a teenaged gymnast under her tutelage to shut up about getting molested by a team doctor.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

There is an overall pattern of abuse in girls gymnastics, like the US Military, Boy Scouts, The Catholic Church, Frats, secret clubs and societies, cults, families, tribes, and where else that hasn't been exposed yet?

It seems like this shit goes on in any and all organizations with hierarchy & authority figures with power and control over others, and loyalty and fealty to the organization being preached, taught and demanded. There are also usually degrees of insularity, us against the "outside:" world mentality, and attempting to be self contained groups that feel the right to police their own, or not.

What are the types of societies, groups or organizations that don't seem to have this problem, and what is it about the culture and structure of societies or the organizations that don't breed this or prevent against it one way or another?

I certainly have my guesses, but I don't know of any research or evidence and haven't searched for it yet.
