OT - ESPN & Microsoft Partner Up

Submitted by Rescue_Dawn on

"At E3 today, Microsoft unveiled a new partnership with ESPN, so you jocks and sportos will be able to enjoy tons of games. How many tons? Over 3,500 sporting events in the first year alone, most in HD.

You'll be able to replay plays with a simple voice command,  participate in real-time polls, trivia, other enhancements.

Best part: The price: It's free for Xbox Live Gold members."

I'm hating work right now...not letting be unproductive and look at this link...after I just got done with being unproductive watching the World Cup.  HOW DARE THEY?!

The new 360 also looks pretty great, especially with the built in wireless N. I don't have money for one right now anyway, but it should be pretty sweet.

For anyone that only uses cable/satellite to watch sports, it'll also probably save you somewhere around $1000 a year.

I'm assuming it'll only be the content scheduled to be on ESPN3. It's still pretty awesome, but you don't get the stuff on ABC (Antenna if you're close enough). I also miss FSN, BTN and, rarely, VS. A computer (HTPC) with MLB.tv ($80-100), bigtenticket ($45) and a proxy would get you close. Add the cost of internet access with XboxLive and Netflix it gets you to ~$850 a year. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but the cableless option will only be free of guilt from supporting INSERT EVIL CABLE CO...

Then again it could still save you a whole lot of money (e.g. you're in an area with only 1 provider and aren't on a promotional rate).

Apparently if you forward it to 100 people you will receive large checks in the mail in the future....or was that AOL and Netscape...
