OT - Atlanta Hawks haz a lulz for Jameer Nelson
On the backs of Jameer Nelson's comments "see you in the second round" to Derrick Rose before the series between Atlanta and Orlando started, the Atlanta Hawks left some tickets for Jameer Nelson to their second round series with the Bulls so he could see him in the second round.

Nice one. Never a big fan of Nelson and things like this are a big part of that. Looks good on him and well played on behalf of the hawks! I must confess though, I am a little suprised that they were able to take game one in Chicago. Not being a fan of any particular pro team though I usually hope for the underdogs anyway.
I, too, am a little shocked by the Hawks winning. They have some amazing basketball players...However, they have no concept of good or bad shots. they just launch up everything. I figured with Heinrich out for the series they would be dealt with quickly.
This game was very similar to the Indiana series, in that the Bulls did not play well, and their opponent played their best game. The Hawks took and made ridiculous shots all night, shooting 51% from the field. I'm confident that the Bulls will play better, as the Bulls best game > the Hawks best game. Unfortunately we've only played 1 good game in the playoffs... so we'll see.
I like what the Hawks did for Jameer. of course Jameer said that he'd see Rose in the 2nd round, what's he supposed to say "we're going to lose to Atlanta, good luck!"??? But props to the hawks for buying him 300 level seats
Are you kidding me....do you really think those are the only two options he had? To say either "see you in round two" or "we're going to lose in round one to the hawks"!!?? Let's be serious.
My guess is he should have kept his mouth shut. Simply saying, "Wait until next time we play" or something like that. Dismissing an opponent (especially in the playoffs) has never proven to be a wise thing to do. Now everyone can just laugh at the guy for being a big mouth.
On another matter; what is Rose's status? Is he good to go for game 2?
but I think his ankle limited him already, and he tweaked it again. He didn't have a free throw, which means he's playing very differently than he did in round 1. In round 1 when his shot wasn't falling he just drove and created contact and got to the line. He didn't do that last night before he tweaked his ankle again
When I used to really follow the NBA and had a favorite team it was always the Bulls. Back when Jordan and Pippen played I never missed a game (on TV of course as I live in Nova Scotia).
I have been getting pretty excited about the talent they have drafted over the past few years, especially watching Rose develop. That guy can play and I would rather watch him play any day of the week over LeBron or the heat. Good luck to Rose and the Bulls. I would love to see them take out the Heat (if both teams get to that point).
This is the first time Nelson has been vocal, and I bet he thinks twice about guarantees now, especially with J-Rich and Turk on his team. I do hope Atlanta beats Chicago, though, as the most insufferable player in the NBA, Noah, threw another tantrum last night, and once again solidified himself as the whiniest of bitches, not to mention a talentless 7 foot frame. How I wish Laimbeer was still in the league to give "Joe Kim" a hard elbow across the sternum, and force his retirement to the south of France, where he can bask in his visage and cry pure tears.
David Stern's nightmare NBA finals.
One thing I like about the NFL: no one ever says this about the Super Bowl (or any playoff game). It doesn't matter if the two smallest markets meet in the postseason. The game is a big enough draw by itself.
A Steelers v. Packers superbowl still drums up more interest (smaller towns but public teams) than something like Bucs v. Raiders, though.
