New Rockford HS Football Coach a former Michigan Football Player

Longtime Rockford coach Ralph Munger announced his retirement in December and it was recently announced that Brent Cummings has been named as the replacement. Cummings played defensive back for Michigan from '99-03 and has been an assistant at Rockford for quite some time.

Interesting hire for Rockford. Most thought that some other West Michigan coaches were in the running or even a shoe in depending on who you asked. I'm hoping to be able to find out a little more of the story later this week (I'm not in that circle but know some who are). Even with a large talent pool at Rockford, he will have a difficult job in replicating Ralph's accomplishments in a TOUGH OK Red conference.

Ah man, that brings back some memories. We played Rockford in the 2005 state title game and the following year I was a captain in the 2006 semi-final game against them. We had a pretty crazy cinderella year leading up to that 2005 state title game, and it was a pretty close / competitive game (I think we were leading at half if I remember right), but we got destroyed in that 2006 semi-final game the following year. They had a good team, and those were some good times. Playing at Ford Field was pretty surreal as a 17 year old kid.
