Worst round of takes I have…

Worst round of takes I have heard from you, Craig.  Especially bad takes on Anthony Grant from Dayton.  Builds a physical defense and simply attempts to foul out opponents on offense.  One of the worst offensive coaches in the country, especially out of timeouts and late in games.

Shared season tickets at UDayton. Earmarked that VCU game so I could see Johns. I was really rooting for him in the maize and blue.

Met my wife at a West Michigan summer camp as well. I never went as a kid and was nervous to be giving up my real job to play for a summer. My wife was the first person I met. I thought anyone willing to give up their summer to serve others (who looks like that) has gotta be the woman I’ll marry. Been married for 22 years. Best years of my life.

The 1990s were my formative years as a fan (for better or worse).  Loved myself some Mike Hart. But Wheatley... it's always been Wheatley.

Up monitoring a low right now. I second this.

I have brought all three of my Type 1 kids to games over the past 3 seasons (1 per year). All three have pumps, but we have all the things just in case

We bring their usual bag with the insulin in a little insulated pouch. I always make sure they wear their medical ID bracelet. Last time they didn’t even check the bag.
Wishing you good numbers and a big win.

I'm the typical mouth…

I'm the typical mouth-breather fan who just screams and cheers based on the result of a given play.  I did notice something of note while watching last night:

I'll have to find the exact time of game during replays, but Nebraska scored on a fancy play where the TE motioned to the backfield and then ran a wheel-route to the right for a TD.  Commentators had a lot of praise for that play.

Later, I noticed that Michigan ran the SAME wheel route play a drive or two later, except handed the ball off for a modest gain.  Wondered if that is a 'typical' play that teams have in their arsenal, or a little gamesmanship from one team stealing it from another.

Long term fan base builder with short term revenue.  A sound model.

I see where Ace is coming…

I see where Ace is coming from.  I see where Brian is coming from.  I am totally fine (glad, even) that there is not a total agreement between the two.  This issue is not clean.  It's not simple.  It's not static.

I am still processing all of this.  This post is well written.  I am appreciative for it.

Bang me. I’m Irish.

Unfortunately, individual…

Unfortunately, individual statistics don't help the Wolverines.  From a statistical perspective, the wealth is shared so much.  Here are the Wolverines that are ranked in the top 10 in major statistical categories:

Mike Smith is 1st Ast/game

Hunter is 7th in Reb/game and 3rd in Blk/game.

Wagner is 9th in Stl/game.

That's it.  And those three are not 1st team All Big Ten this year.  So much talent this year.

I see a scenario with 2-3 players team (Livers, Wagner, Dickinson) as Second Team and 1-2 players on the third team/honorable mention (Smith, Dickinson).  Coach Howard might be Coach of the Year (maybe this cements it).  Certainly one of the more dangerous Big Ten teams of the last decade, though.

Now everyone please buy some…

Now everyone please buy some CLOV this week.

TD Ameritrade froze my sell…

TD Ameritrade froze my sell order today, and couldn't sell my AMC shares that I had bought "from a meme" earlier.  Finally the deal went through and still did well enough to triple my investment.  I run a mix of traditional blue chip accounts (a la Dave Ramsey) with some dabbling in these high risk plays sported by various reddit and twitter follows.  I wait for the stars to align and buy in.  It has worked well, just not as well as others.  I do not see this new wave of day traders "banding together" as a core flaw of the market.

One thing that IS fundamentally changing the market is the HUGE influx of cash investment.  Many of the stimulus dollars went right into the market (mine did).  As more cash pours into the market prices MUST go up.  I believe this to be the source of the nonsensical 16% market gain for 2020 even in a pandemic.

So long as the money stays in the market, the tide will remain high.  And I don't see that changing.

Just passing along this note from your supervisor to cut out early today.  Have a great weekend, Michigan fans.

7th grade basketball tryouts…

7th grade basketball tryouts.  Dribble from mid-court to the free throw line.  Pull-up for a shot.  Everyone got two chances to show their game.  I dribbled up left-handed (trying to show what I got), and pulled up.  A few kids before me airballed and I was not having that.  "Just go up strong and confident".  So I did.  And chucked the rock right over the backboard.  Cut first overall, for the win.

I really appreciate the work…

I really appreciate the work you clearly put into this.  Its a small (micro) solace that we are up against the highest of heights at OSU.  We are (and should always be) the measuring sticks against one another.  The cynic in me is whispering whether we are the cause of OSUs dominance, as we are unable to provide a suitable challenge to them and their string of success.  Let's face it, even when we are down, The Game still moves the national needle.

Also, an interesting note that my formative years as a fan ('90-'96) really were some of our best times during my life span.  No wonder I'm tried and true, through and through, all (go) blue.

Strange to hear these locations on this blog. Born in MI, but grew up in Pahrump.

9/29/2001 vs the best…

9/29/2001.  Michigan hammered the best Illinois team of the decade.  Kurt Kittner led the Illini to a 10-2 record and number 12 ranking.  Post 9/11 had skinny crowds.  The most room I've ever had at the Big House.  Nose bleed seats (5 rows from the top) in the SW corner.  First anniversary gift from the love of my life.  Walking in from the concourse was amazing.

Brent’s first game of high…

Brent’s first game of high school was a huge game against our JV. Something like 4 carries for 4 TDs. Even though their varsity team ran us off the field my senior year (78-0), they still moved him up the next week. Finest HS player I’ve seen with my own eyes.

Uhhhh. While I am not the man, I am definitely friends with that one who threw the drink. Definitely under the influence.  Lifetime palace ban. And a lot of days in court. It was no joke.

Edit:  oops. Not the guy who hit arrest with the drink. My friend through the cup at ONeal in the aisle and got laid out cold.

Fantastic post.

Despite the pain, I am all-in on option A.  I'm a dinosaur in that regard.  To find out that our program is 'dirty' would be devastating.  I realize how naive I am in this... but a man can hope.

That being said, if the NCAA is forced to allow players to be compensated (one way or the other)... just give me the link to contribute.

We planned on a large family…

We planned on a large family, and had 5(!) children.  Wife said she was done.  Good enough for me.  I would've gone along with that after being in the room for the first.  Adopted 3 more since.  No regrets.

Heads up: going from 2 children to 3 was hardest transition for us (outside of adoption).

Rooting Interests:

Michigan…

Rooting Interests:

Michigan.  We haven't won a conf championship, so LSU's better SOS (Sagarin, ESPN, etc) makes sense...for now.

Some Big Game Rooting might include:

LSU over Bama.  Loser is out if Michigan wins B1G.

ND over NW.  This assumes SOS is bolstered by an undefeated ND. Willing to be wrong.

Some sneaky games that matter:

Western over Ohio.  WMU (6-3) as MAC Champ props up our SOS a bit.

SMU over #17 Houston: SOS applies.  Also more B1G teams being ranked is good.  We can root, right?

Iowa over everyone from here on out.  We need to add a defeat of a top-10 team in B1G Championship.  A 10-2 Iowa fits the bill better than any other potential opponent.

Someone here suggested Doug…

Someone here suggested Doug Skene a few weeks ago.  I've been all over his stuff since that time.  I do not miss a podcast he is on.  I could go for more than 18 minutes a week, though.

6 is fine

I’d rather have a 6 seed than a 5 (or 4 for that matter). I’d prefer to stay on the 2-seed side of the bracket, instead of the top seed.
