NCAA one time immediate eligibility for transfers likely this coming year

Per a report on 247sports.com: NCAA is likely going to recommend that student athletes who transfer get immediate eligibility for the first time they transfer.  The vote by member institutions would take place May 20th and would be expected to pass.  This would apply to the upcoming 2020-21 season and onwards.

Good. If any coach can bail at any time, a college kid should at least be able to bail once without suffering for it.

+1 for your comment.  This is a small, overdue step to help level the playing field for the college athlete. But it's a start.  And once athletes can begin being paid for their likeness being used (2023), there will be another important step forward.

PS:  I still despise the NCAA.

I think you either give them payment for service or freedom of movement. It's complete bullshit to claim these kids are STUDENT athletes and then not let them move around just like a student would.

I know tons of kids who went somewhere, didn't like it, and then transferred to my university and ended up having great lives after graduation. You shouldn't be excluded from doing that because you happen to play a sport.

Will this help level the playing field?

You'd have to think a lot of Alabama's second stringers will be eyeing the transfer portal for starter minutes at other schools.

Hmm...the media loves to bash Harbaugh at every turn, but I bet you he won't get credit for this...especially when the SEC coaches were whining and opposed to it from the first time he brought it up. Say want you want about his wins and losses but he was great for college football. He brought in an enthusiasm towards recruiting, signing day shows, satellite camp exposure, overseas trips, this, etc. Sad that hes been blindsided constantly by an overall corrupt machine instead of being embraced.
