Solomon would be a huge addition, but I'm always skeptical about the chances of pulling elite DL recruits out of the deep south—it  just doesn't happen that often, especially with schools like Alabama and LSU in the region.

Are there DLs closer to the midwest who might not be as highly rated as Solomon but still talented enough for Michigan who we're ignoring in favor of pursuing Solomon?

There are not a lot of good options in the midwest this year, IMO. And the state of Michigan doesn't have many NT types who are high quality.

A few guys I might kick the tires on if we can't get Tufele or Solomon are Derrius Mullins and Juan Harris (both Indiana commits), NJ's Dalyn Wade-Perry, and CO's Noah Elliss, who's the son of Luther Elliss and a teammate of Dylan McCaffrey.

Still a lot of time for harbaugh and crew to work their recruiting magic. I think they will pull 1 or 2 4-star player(s) out of no where before signing day. With so many EE's this year, I assume they are doing signing of the stars on espnu this year?

Spending 64 years on this rock has taught me to hope with a naive heart but to bet with a cynical brain.

What's hard to gauge is how important factors away from the field are for Harris and his family. From what I've heard (mostly from Sam Webb), he and his family have enjoyed their visit(s) to U-M and have a good connection with at least some of the staff. However, it's hard to find any top recruit who says anything different about Michigan—Hand and his family supposedly loved Michigan, and that didn't overcome Alabama's advantages in their eyes.

If the most important criteria for Harris is what's happening right now on the field of play, I believe he'll stay with Alabama. If other factors are equally important for him and his family—education, environment on campus and in Ann Arbor, relationship with staff and other recruits—then choosing Michigan won't be a shock.

In the absence of any hard information to the contrary (Harris has been extremely quiet during most of the process), I think it will be the former.

Najee Harris also recently "liked" a pic on Instagrm of a plaque that said "Michigan Running Backs"

If he doesnt come to Michigan he is surely screwing around with us

If peters or Mccaffrey turns into what we think they will under Harbaugh it won't matter If we lose out on Harris. There's a ton of potential with walker, Evans, O Samuels and even Kingston Davis. I'm not sure Higdon has the vision to be anything significant.
