Teams are really starting to pack the 3-point line against us.  We are trying to mitigate it with back door cuts, but we're not consistent.  Our our pick-and-roll and penetrate to the hoop game is a pale shadow of it's former self.

it's really hard to say if it is only just youth, or is it that these guys don't have the elite talent and never will.

If you replace Donnal and Chatman with merely mediocre D1 players, this would easily be a tournament team.   Chatman looks like he's never played basketball before in his life.  It's not Beilen's system that leads one to foul two (!) 3 point shooters in about 3 minutes of game play.  It's having a terrible understanding of fundamental defensive principles.  On offense he shot faked (good!) then took a pull-up long range 2 (bad!).

Donnal at least looks like he's trying real hard, but he can't make a shot.  He doesn't stretch the floor at all, because who would both guarding him behind the line?  Frustrating.

Re: Chatman. He's far from a lost cause. Just taking a little longer to adjust to the college game than we would like to see. I keep hoping it clicks for him any game now, but we may need to wait until next season to see him blossom.

I'm not sure that this team has the horses to pull away from anyone in the B1G. I'm guessing most of our games will look like this ... the others will be us getting killed.

"Zak Irvin sucks at basketball" is not criticism. "Zak Irvin needs to pass more" or "Zak Irvin is such an inconsistent defender" is criticism. This is a Michigan fan blog, we don't need to talk about our own players like the opposing fans do.
