Michigan @WMU hockey tickets available

A quick heads-up:

If anyone wants to score some front row seats, go immediately to the WMU ticket office website.

https://wmubroncos.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3AWMU%3AH21%3AH02%3A&linkID=wmu&shopperContext=&pc=&caller=&appCode=&groupCode=&cgc=

It appears there's roughly 20 seats now available at face value for Saturday's game.

(I and my daughter and her hubby will be there, got my tickets Monday)

Don't delay---Go Blue!

Damn, I so want to go.... failed (read partied) myself out of Western before I got my act together and graduated from Michigan.  Best time of my life!  (or so they tell me)

Just five seats still available---time is running out!

Hoping to see the front row in those two sections full of Michigan Hockey fans Saturday night!

Roll Call:

Who else (besides yours truly) is doing a football/hockey home/road doubleheader Saturday?

And, if may I ask, who on the MGoBoard was able to take advantage of my notification this evening of newly available hockey tickets for Saturday's WMU game?

Thanks for the heads up on the tickets, Rob. I've been a reader for years prior to making an account a while back, but I've never felt the need to actually post until now (admittedly there have been a few comments that brought me close to the edge). You win!

My wife and I will be there cheering loudly for the Maize and Blue! Thanks again.

While I'm glad to see you make your first post ever to the MGoBoard, I'm much more happy that you and your wife (and a number of other readers here) will now have an opportunity to see this talented Michigan Hockey Team in person. If the season goes as well as it just might, it's going to get increasingly more difficult to find a ticket to a Michigan hockey game and as most of us know, hockey is BTN's red-headed stepchild.

I posted Monday when I picked up 3 seats for myself and my daughter and her hubby as soon as they went on sale at 10am.  It took only 20 minutes or so before all that was left were a few scattered singles and SRO tickets.

By noon, though, some 20-25 sellers had appeared on StubHub and the total available tickets had shot up from just one pair @$150 each to some 80 seats or more, all at $95-$200 or higher; by evening the number being sold was over double that---as expected, scalpers had dove in Monday morning to make a quick buck.  (Even now there's still 58 seats available on StubHub, all at $99 or more plus fees.)

At that point a quick peek Monday evening revealed that a few more scattered seats were back up on the WMU athletics website, but not enough to warrant me making a post, until I saw some 20 front row seats appear early Wednesday evening.

Enjoy the game; if the opportunity arises, I might migrate on down to those two sections late in the game to say "GO BLUE!" to everyone.

Yeah, I saw your post Monday. That night I tried to get tickets but was discouraged to see none available. Once you posted that more were on sale, it was a no-brainer. Amazing how the ticket prices have skyrocketed. For that, I'm even more grateful for the notice!

I'm currently in the burbs of G.R. but spent much of my childhood on the ice at Lawson. Having grown up in Portage, I also attended many Bronco games. You might think I'm a Bronco fan from this, and having degrees from both universities, it might seem that I have split allegiances at best. However, if you look for the bald, age fifty-ish guy wearing a block M Michigan hockey sweater in the front row of section 18, you'll know better.

It's funny you mention the opportunity we have to see this team in action. I have been telling anyone who will listen (hockey and non-hockey fans alike) that they NEED to see this team. I would never predict a national championship for anyone in the sport of hockey, but if there was ever a team assembled that is worth watching just for the sheer beauty, creativity, and style, this is the one.

Thanks again. Enjoy the game!

I got my tickets and was lucky to get them. There were only 3 in the section I wanted but it wouldn't let me buy 2 so I went to the other section and there were only 2 left so I snagged them.

Should have plenty of time to get out of my football jersey and put on my hockey sweatshirt and jump on 94 to the game. Will be a long day but well worth it. Thanks for the heads up. I was trying so hard to get tickets to see them play this year. I live a few miles from Notre Dame but they are trying their hardest to keep Michigan fans out for the final weekend series in South Bend. I will still find a way in.

Go Blue!!!!

I snagged two for me and my daughter.  There were only 4 left at that point - now zero.  I was hoping to snag the other two for my wife and step son... bummer.

Thanks for the heads up!

Highjacking this thread to ask about games at Yost - is it a kid-friendly environment? I want to try to get to a game this year and bring my 5 year-old. Also, is there a recommendation for sitting on one side of the ice versus the other?

My last trip to Yost was way back in 2014, took my two girls and my wife. I am pretty careful on what is appropriate for kids. We sat in the south end zone (north end zone has more seats but they get quite high quite quickly). For all of the people that have lamented the changes in Yost's atmosphere, it is still absolutely electric and was a delight after several years of watching ho hum UMD home games.

Obviously, some of the things that the students chant are things that I am not cool with. But kids cannot understand what they're saying, and I'm under no obligation to fill them in on what they mean.

"Child friendly," to me, has a lot more to do with how fans in your immediate neighborhood will act around the kids than the larger atmosphere of the venue. If there are obnoxious drunks right next to you, it's unpleasant. Yost, to my knowledge, does not have an issue with individual fans acting like that.

I will say that at 5 your kid will not be able to follow the action well. The youngest I've brought my kids to a game I was invested in them experiencing is 6, and when I did that the focus was on the experience, eating snacks, etc. You'll want to accept that your kid won't necessarily care much about the game on the ice at that age. But you can highlight the band and such, the sights and sounds.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated. My son has some experience at sporting events (we've been to a few MLB games and an MiLB game) and he's been able to stay engaged through 9 innings (including a scorching hot game in Detroit back in September). All that to say I think he'll do OK with more action to follow, plus a more energetic environment.

Honestly, it's the chants from the student section that I'm wondering most about. I think you and I probably view things similarly in that regard, so it's helpful to hear how you handled it with your kids.
