Michigan Hockey vs PSU -- Open Thread

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The first game of the year that is actually on a television and not a web stream!

B1G opener. Michigan is 1-0-0 all-time in those, winning 3-2 OT in the first-ever B1G game against Ohio State.

I seriously hope this team is ready for this. They need to put their damn foot down and say enough is enough of this bullshit.

PSU has been an NCAA hockey team for not even 3 full years. It's time Michigan beats them like they haven't been around for 3 full years.

WIN. THE. GAME. PLEASE!!

Guy Gadowsky seems to have PSU in a good spot. They haven't beaten many but did manage a split with Lowell.

A sweep will cause me to hold out hope that we have a real shot of making the tourney.

A split or anything less has me thinking about next season

What a weak sized student section, it seems as though it shrinks every season. Back in my day--I was a senior 10 (!!!) years ago--it spanned the ENTIRE East side of the Arena.

Don't get me wrong, my good man, WD: I still adore the place and can't wait to spend my birthday in 2 weeks for the game against OSU there...but it's just not the same.

So we will seemingly have to average 5 goals a game to have a chance at the tournament this year. We look so bad on the back end. And our forwards aren't playing two ways well enough considering they know that our blue line pairings are atrocious.

While the play early on in the season has been lackluster, I'm still hopeful that this is one of those teams that has growing pains through the first half then find their stride midway through and make a run at the tourney.

The writing is on the wall. Everything they're doing wrong starts at the top. I think that this just proves what most aren't willing to say.

I firmly believe that with the returning roster and next year's recruiting class, this team can compete for a national championship next year. I think we know what has to change for it all to come together.
