Michigan Alum JJ Putz Traded
So the most successful current Michigan Alum in the big leagues (one of two, the other being Chicago Cubs pitcher Rich Hill) was traded from Seattle to the Mets yesterday. Putz has had one hell of a year, not all of it good. After finishing off the last two seasons with 36 and 40 saves, he was injured in the 2008 season and lost quite a bit of his command. He slowly earned back his closer role in September after struggling for about two months. It didn't help that the Mariners just weren't that good either.
Now he's slated as the 8th inning guy from the Mets, just in front of K-Rod. As much as I hate the Mets, their bullpen is ridiculously talented. Now if their starters don't make it out of the 6th inning, they still can hold leads.

As a big Mets fan, that's exciting news.
On a related note, Michigan plays the NY Mets (again) this year in Port St. Lucie - 3/9/09.

I was hoping he would get traded to the Tigers to be their closer.

I wanted him to close in Detroit too; from everything I had heard, however, Seattle wanted about 75% of the Tigers' farm system. Dombrowski is probably a little skittish after getting burned on Renteria and Willis last year.

You'll get Trevor Hoffman's old, broken down ass and you'll like it!!!
Don't get me started on the Tigers....

His pitches are always off by *this* (adjusts hat so that brim is facing straight) much.

K-Rod gets hurt at some point due to the ridiculous workload he had last year and Putz is closing for the Mets. Write that down...maybe.
