Loeffler Called It - OSU
Scott Loeffler used to say "I don't negative recruit, except for one school.... Because they f***ing cheat... He wears a sweater vest."
He would mention that the dude is basically a phony. The sweater vest, WWJD bracelet, clean cut thing was a big front. I think when you hear it from someone that recruits against him, is part of the whole coaching network, there's some juice to it (rival school or not).
I was hearing the same type of stuff about fulmer. Talking to some of his employees and former recruits, it turned out to be legit. His recruiting pitch was to ask players what their favorite car was.
So no, it wasn't all tin-foil conspiracy theorists down on Tressel.
Anyway, I think Brady Hoke is one lucky guy. I don't think he was going to have a winning record against Tressel. I don't think it's going to happen against Kelly either. But hey, we may have a shot at OSU now.
I think we are all overloaded with the news out of Columbus. Myself included, there has been some really stupid shit posted today.
Not because I want to play Journalism-teacher or anything like that. But as to the substance, would Loeffler have known about what the current allegations pertain to? Or does Loeffler know something more, or something different? If Loeffler knows more than what is public, and if he really knows it, wouldn't he say something to somebody? Like, officially? Maybe he has, I don't know. But if so, what is that story?
Because, to be honest, I really don't know how this is as yet any kind of a recruiting story. Has there been so much as a single recruiting allegation as yet?
And how would Loeffler go about "negative recruiting" against OSU? I suppose it depends on what Loeffler knows, which makes me all the more curious about what exactly it is that Loeffler does know.
If you know Loeffler and if he said it to you, privately, I think I can live with that. But really, what does it mean? How exactly was Tressel cheating? I'm not necessarily challenging you, just asking for clarity. Would Loeffler back it up?
Nixon used to always say "Damnit, some day people are going to associate me with that ass hole, sweater vest wearin', sum-bitch that coached Ohio State."
Er, or something like that, but Nixon was first.
Neg bombing time for that last paragraph.
Come on man, posting a brag that Loeffler was right and then tossing in a dig at Hoke? What's your next trick to support the program, getting Denard a sweet deal on a Nissan?
Really though a lot of Ohio recruits respected Tressel and it doesn't help our standing with them if we celebrate crassly (and run down our HC as we party).
... with your attempts to salvage the reputation of our program. I'm certain that your call to arms will have a massive effect on the success of Michigan Football.
Negbomb the whole thing. But feel free to use the last paragraph as an aiming point.
Rich Rod cleaned up everywhere he went until he hit the primetime. Kelly is not a sure thing...
is trying to say. Is that Kelly is putting in place, a similar system as to what Tressel had. Giving Kelly a competitive advantage over Hoke. Can't think of why else he would say what he did.
"I think Brady Hoke is one lucky guy. I don't think he was going to have a winning record against Tressel"
Oh boy, do I call out bullshit.... Don't sell Hoke short... he is killing it in recruiting, and the players are gonna do anything for him... I actually wanted Tressel and Pryor to stick around, only to see Jake Ryan blindside Pryor on a backside delayed blitz.
Just because RR wasn't able to even make a dent in OSU with his, per Lloyd Carr, "very very small team" ... the last thing you should do is to project RR's failure on Hoke.
I will be betting on Michigan to beat OSU, this year, just as Bo did, in 1969, to begin his tenure.
hope you're right man. You seem very enthusiastic.
I'm all about people disagreeing, arguing, etc. I think it makes for a great forum.
This board is so regulated. It's like you can't even say what you want. Your comment started off minimized... why? Because you upset some people on the board before? Really stupid.
Anyway, you can call me every name in the book if we win that game in November. I'll be too happy to even care.
Lloyd Carr calling RR's teams small is stupid, because the players that have time to get big in a 3 year window at a college program should've all been Carr's recruits anyways.
