They are hanging in there. At the end of the day we had a nice year. I keep looking at the scores despite my wanting to not give in. Enough players are going to be back next year to "Remember OHIO" so hopefully that game serves a purpose as extra motivation to not get beat by a team that shouldn't beat you. Veteran players with extra talent sprinkled in, hopefully, with some solid leadership a special season makes.

Have never understood the "root for the Big Ten" mania that seems to take people by storm during the postseason.  I hate msu, osu, and nd.  I'm not going to root for them unless it DIRECTLY helps Michigan.  Plus, I don't even see a point in rooting for other teams in this type of scenario.  Sure, root for the Big Ten in the early part of the season because it will boost the conference rpi, etc. which helps Michigan.  If they do awesome now it will do nothing to help Michigan, just give them more momentum for next year...when they play us

I played (and got dominated in) highschool ball against SLU guard Jordair Jett. He's a lockdown defender and has hands-down the best basketball name ever. Jett's about to drop a bomb on the Spartans.

Really...this lil bro thing has to stop. We lost to Ohio. They appear to be going at least to the sweet 16. This makes us look like a-holes!

I still don't know how Green is this good.  The guy looks so unathletic out there, but he clearly knows how to play the game and is a great college player.  He won't sniff the NBA, but for college his game can be unstoppable at times.

Also, this is a really nice draw for MSU.  Memphis looked way scarier than SLU, and then they get Louisville for a shot to face either Marquette or Florida (I doubt Norfolk St. gets through).  For everyone who complained that MSU had a tough bracket, this is the easiest road to the FF unless Purdue upsets Kansas.

Memphis looked way scarier? Based on what? This kind of comment let's me know that you have no clue about college basketball. Comments like this is why no one takes us serious when it comes to college hoops. Sparty had the toughest 8/9 matchup of any of the 1s. SLU is like Butler and Wiscy. Control tempo, protect the ball, don't foul and are extremely well coached.

Big Ten is 9-1 (ugh the one).

Good luck to the Boilers. Let's get 5 teams in the sweet 16.

At least you lost to Ohio State.   They have a rich basketball history and there is no shame losing to a Big Ten powerhouse.  Draymond Green will be a career 10/5 guy in the NBA for the right team.  I cant help thinking this is a whole lot of Karma for UM fan.  You just couldn't enjoy your moderate success.  You had to bitch and moan about how you are just as good as State, that you have closed the gap, that State's run a top the Big Ten was over and look what you have, a seat on the coach while the big boys move on.  What is left of your team is very little talent, developing chemistry issues and now you have to try and regroup for next year's incoming children.   If you think the upper classmen are going to just buy in when their starting spots are being taken over you are sorely mistaken.  We will see just how good a coach Beilein is next year as he handles these "stud" kids and talentless returning players.  You are going to be 4 or 5 in the Big Ten at best next year.

I love that you originally intended to lecture us about "karma," only to ramble on with a bunch of nonsense about our team having no talent and finishing no higher than fourth next year.  Ask your boy Appling how "talentless" Trey Burke is.

It's a sign that our program has arrived that the trolls are reduced to saying things like "You'll only finish fourth!"  They used to say we'd finish in last place.  Hey, if we make the Sweet 16 like this year's fourth-place team (Wisconsin) did, fine with me.

I think you meant sitting on the couch. I know everyone is E.L. burned all of their couches, but in Ann Arbor we have the luxury of basic furniture. As for finishing 4th in the Big Ten next year? Yeah you guys said that last year too

couch burning, really?  This is why it is so hard to get along with your fan base.   People like you are all about the brand and nothing else.  You lose four years in a row and you trumpet your 9 shared national titles that came before women could vote.  You have two good years in basketball, which is good for everyone in the Big Ten and you jump all over MSU to accept you as our basketball equal.  Can you stop whipping out your recruiting class like it is some giant dong we should all envy?  MSU has a higher recruiting class but we don't beat you over the head with it.  If you have been there, then act like you have been there.  It is so "douchey" to sit around on your "basic furniture" and trash MSU.  If you don't like this team, you just don't like basketball.  Regardless of the colors worn, you have to be impressed by what Draymond Green has done for this team even if you are sick of reading about.  Start calling schools by their real name and quit waving around the big block M and expecting others to go one knee to worship you and people might start respecting you.

shows his ignorance.  UM should worry about losing their two roll players in douglass and novak, but he makes no mention of sparty losing their only shooters - wood, green and thornton.  sparty will be very easy to defend next year by packing the paint.

meanwhile, UM will be adding 2 players that will play above the rim; the main reason we lost on Fri.  those missed layups will become dunks and those opposing guards' shots in the paint will be blocked into the 3rd row.

Gary Harris is a perimeter scorer and until he was asked to be the point guard Appling was a straight up scorer.  He had nearly 40 pts. against Bay City  as a senior.  He has adapted his game to suit the needs of the team.  Who is playing above the room?  Robinson and Stauskus are 6'5".  McGary is 6'9" and I have only seen him against h.s. competition.  Will be interesting to see him and Harris on the US Select Team.  We will be able to see how they fare against quality teams.  The loss of Green and Wood cannot be underestimated to be sure but a good look at this team would reveal that we are bringing back a team that has gained a lot of experience.  Is Burke going to play all 40 min of every game next year.  Brundidge didn't play but a couple of minutes.  Lastly, watch out for the Hardaway/Burke rivalry next season.  This was supposed to be Hardaway's team next year.  With both Burke and Hardaway playing for the NBA, it may not be smooth sailing next year.
