Mel Kiper is a sack of shit with glasses.
August 14th, 2009 at 4:08 PM ^
and a stupid mullet
August 14th, 2009 at 4:16 PM ^
I'd kill for a Mel Kiper Jr. Wig.
August 14th, 2009 at 4:08 PM ^
LOL correct just thought it was worth noting.
August 14th, 2009 at 4:21 PM ^
Two words: Curtis Painter. Mel had him as a first round pick going into last season.

Isn't this the same guy who said Carson Butler was a good blocker?

Hyper is another person who must be really great at managing his image behind the scenes, because his job performance would get most people fired, especially in this economy. There have to be at least a couple hundred bloggers who could do his job better than he does.

If for no other reason then the fact that he has something to say about every player drafted while the others just listen with dropped jaws. He looks like hes been on a 36 hour cock bender every draft and when lightning strikes he gets bad mouthed by GMs. I'd take him over Todd McShay any day of the week.
August 14th, 2009 at 5:15 PM ^
Im gonna go ahead and guess that you meant "coke" bender. Although him going on a 36 hour cock bender would be humorous too! lol
I am just always amazed by his hair and glasses, if I wasn't black he would've DEFINITELY been one of my Halloween costumes by now!
August 14th, 2009 at 7:05 PM ^
Not sure why I put "cock bender". Definitely meant cocaine or coke. I need to get my mind out of the gutter. Btw, nice pic. It's one of my favs.
August 14th, 2009 at 7:30 PM ^
because you're black
August 14th, 2009 at 5:39 PM ^
Mel keeps his job because people love to mock him and his "I GUARANTEE THAT _____ WILL BE OFF THE BOARD ON THE FIRST DAY" only to see them go undrafted.
August 14th, 2009 at 5:51 PM ^
I don't know what's worse, a ball-buster or a cock-bender. My whole groinage hurts just thinking about it.
August 14th, 2009 at 5:58 PM ^
He does tend to overdo it praising some players, and I don't really agree with him philosophically, but he does a lot of research and brings knowledge to the table of the guys in the late rounds. Anyone who gets that much face time on one subject is gonna fuck up. I like mcshay more, but it not like kiper does anything that is especially loathsome

I agree and the man makes a lot of money doing what he does. He's doing something right.
August 14th, 2009 at 6:08 PM ^
You dont have to do something well to get paid a lot of money. Look at the CEO's of all these banks for evidence of that.

Or see: Isaiah Thomas, Top 40 radio, summer blockbusters, Michael Crichton or Charlie Weiss.
The invisible hand of the market massages mediocre/incompetent shoulders as often as not.
August 15th, 2009 at 5:49 PM ^
Just look at Matt Millen.
August 14th, 2009 at 6:06 PM ^
I'm inclined to doubt it.
August 14th, 2009 at 7:44 PM ^
i'm not sure about this, but i do remember that he was SO sure that mike williams was the best WR in the draft that year and he was shocked that teams were passing on him.
nice call, matt and mel.
August 14th, 2009 at 8:01 PM ^
If my memory serves me correct Kiper had Mike Williams as the number one player overall on his board that year, what a call that was.
August 14th, 2009 at 10:32 PM ^
Obviously he would have drafted the same players.
Admittedly this does scare me a bit.

Whenever I think of Kiper, I think of him fitting in perfectly with the stereotypical announcers from the 70s....I see him sitting at half court announcing the Flint Tropics game in Semi-Pro......Or in a yellow ABC Polyester Jacket from the old school Monday Night Football Era, sitting next to Howard Cossell...(Not a Slam at HC)
