"Is this a hook shot?"

I realize this isn't thread-worthy, but f***ing hell I am continually stupified by broadcast announcers.

I've got a bone to pick with Simpson.  Instead of working on his outside shooting, dribbling and foul shot, my son spent every minute that he was outside the past two weeks trying to learn the Simpson hook shot for our upcoming summer season.  Think of the children, Simpson!

When I am done with Simpson, remind me to have a talk with Odell Beckhim Jr., since my son and his friend spent about 2 years asking each other to throw passes that they could "Odell."

On a serious note, if my son drops the Z hook in a game in our summer league (I am his coach), I may actually get a T for unsportsmanlike conduct on the sideline for cheering so insanely.

Is he also launching that hook shot off his right foot?!

This is an understated aspect to Simpson's hook shot.  He often shoots it while launching off his right foot, which is an unconventional way to shoot it.   Most right-handed players will launch naturally off the left foot, as all basketball players are taught to do on layups.  But Simpson uses the right-hand, right-foot hook effectively - it adds a deceptive element.   He sometimes employs this strategy on layups in traffic.   He's crafty.
