Happy Anniversary Desmond and Elvis!
September 14, 1991 Elvis and Desmond joined together in a union that would warm Wolverine hearts from that day to infinity. In their outdoor ceremony, they created an iconic moment or the ages. 29 years and counting... oh how time flies!

Today is also the anniversary of this intercollegiate football classic.

I'll pass on that game. Much of the Hoke tenure is a blur, and those 3 RichRod years are like reliving a prison sentence.

The hell with Notre Dame!

I recall that Grbac-to-Howard pass ... I was in an Ann Arbor bar, and there was a table of Notre Dame fans next to my table. All game long every time Michigan would score, I'd buy them a pitcher; and when Notre Dame would score, they'd buy me a pitcher. It was actually great fun joshing with them all game long. The bar went nuts when Howard pulled in that pass. And to their credit, the Notre Dame fans were gracious in defeat.

Notre Dame fans are generally good in my experience. (I'm not kidding. I'd rank them near the top along with Northwestern fans. I don't have a big enough sample size for some of the other schools. I know Sparty and OSU are at the bottom.)
I'm a lousy Michigan fan. That was a good ND team Michigan beat, but all I can remember from that season is what happened the next week (FSU 51, Michigan 31) in Michigan Stadium.

Thanks, it was definitely one of those games that I remember where I was at when it happened.

I was at the game. I'd graduated a few years before. A friend of ours was a Notre Dame alum and one of the guys that worked for him had a son going to UM and he wanted to make the boss happy so he had his son scrounge us up a couple of tickets in the student section. We were in nearly the same position as the camera and oh what a play.
Keep in mind that this was a regular series at that time and we had just lost the last 4 in a row, all very close. Some years it was Rocket Ismail. Some years they'd come from behind with a lucky bounce. As well, ND was only a couple of seasons removed from winning the Championship. Unfortunately, this was starting to feel like this was going to go the same way. It's 4th and short and Grbac is throwing it into the end zone ?? It appears to be an out of reach pass :( but somehow, Desmond finds a way to pull it in. Cue the muppets X10!
What a game and what a year for Desmond.

Today is my 29th wedding anniversary.
My groomsmen had earphones and mini TVs in their coats. They looked like secret service agents. My buddy a former hooper at Michigan forgot to turn it off during his religious reading and you could see the glow of the TV on his face as he read.
We made the limo take a few more laps while we listened to the big play on the radio. Desmond made the catch and the reception party was on with a good omen.
It was the only day we could get the church btw...compromises.

The question is why the heck did you schedule your wedding on that day?

Trust me it was a brutal discussion and not enjoyable explanation to quite a few friends.
Makes it easy to remember though.
