Gholston quotes
I still think we're playing from behind, and I know this is ridiculous word-parsing, but--I like that we get mentioned first each time.

I seem to recall many thinking that Gardner was probably leaning a bit towards MSU and OSU and clearly now Michigan is at least in the lead. These players are still a year away from signing day and while they may know something about the schools and have taken informal visits, they haven't always gotten the full sell from the coaches. Michigan has a lot to offer and just because MSU has led recently for Gholston doesn't mean that is where he will end up. A good visit to Michigan and hard sell by the coaches could change his mind.

It is interesting to see that M is in his top 5 or so. I got the impression from earlier rumors that M wasn't even near the top of his list. Time will tell if they are making inroads on MSU turf.

movement on MSU turf...i mean, we just got Gardner and he's from IN-STATE!!!! And it was quite obvious before this that RR hates kids from Michigan and that "DANTONIO PWNS MICHIGAN RECRUITS LOLZ"
I meant Southeastern HS, but I had forgotten that the entire state was MSU turf. My fault.

from the videos I've seen of him, his stats, offer list, etc I think this kid is very likely to be a big time player in college. If we don't end up landing him I really hope he doesn't go to MSU, OSU or ND. If we can't get him I sure as hell don't want to play against him...especially if he is going to be a similar beast to his cousin.

All reports are that LaMarr Woodley was a heavier lean to MSU at this time in his recruitment years back than Gholston is now. So, there is certainly hope.

While UM screwed up in the recruitment of Vernon, UM will not do the same with BIG WILL 2.0.
What might be an impediment, from what I have heard, is he lives with his football coach who is an MSU Alum. Anyone know why he's living with his coach and not his family?

His family died in a plane crash. Thanks for bringing it up.

a legit question about why the recruit lived with his coach.
You brought up the plane crash thing. If you had just simply responded that the parents had passed away, so he lives with his coach, the plane crash thing wouldn't have been brought up at all.

go to southeastern HS. i really wouldn't get my hopes up on william.
OSU has not offered yet. They have limited scholarships and going to be very selective who they offer. Obviously, William is not a player they are hotly interested in at this time. I wonder why that is?
That is an interesting question. My hope is they somehow have concluded he is not leaving MI and do not want to try and fail, but that seems unlikely given the fact that Gholston is listing them without an offer. That is a very different response than Gardner wrt OSU. Gholston clearly is interested in them. It is indeed weird that they are playing it cool with a guy that is now Rivals Top 50.
Vernon Gholston was an outstanding football player...and William is his cousin...does that mean that William will be as good as Vernon? What is the objective comparison of these two at this early time point? Would we be obsessing so much if his last name were something else?
the name recognition doesn't hurt but I think it's more to the fact he's a big kid with a lot of upside potential regardless of his last name. At least he's not on roids like his Cousin.
Hell yeah, we would. He's a high 4 star right now; likely 5 star. Top 100 prospect. 6'7" and 235 lbs. He's got offers from all the top teams and his video is sick. If his last name was Bobbaganoosh, we'd still want him to be blue. Well, probably more, because that is a sweet last name.
And one of my favorite Mediterranean appetizers.
