Effect of 2014 E8 loss to Kentucky on Beilein's recruiting?

Submitted by Larry Appleton on
In the wake of the recent commitment from Austin Davis that has obviously caused a great deal of confusion amongst the board, I can't help but wonder if we're just witnessing the reprecussions from the Elite 8 loss to Kentucky last spring. In that game, Michigan takes on a large and athletic Kentucky team by putting out a starting five with no one over 6'8. The result: 17 offensive rebounds given up against only 10 defensive rebounds secured, several put-back dunks by a guy who barely played up to that point, an total rebound deficit of 11, and 6 shots blocked. Since that fateful day, Beilein accepts commitments from two 4s and one 5, all at least 6'9, which have put the team at or near the scholarship limit for 2015 and 2016. This despite an apparent upcoming need for ball-handlers. So what do you all think? Are we seeing a reaction from Beilein from the Kentucky game, which may have given him nightmares of Marcus Lee throwing down tip-dunk after tip-dunk?

Doesn't sound like you're suggesting a rational course of action to me.

Just my take.

I think it's reasonable to be cranky as a Beilein fan with all the horseshit we have to read online from fans of the program he's resurrected.

If thats what you are seeing there, its because thats what you wanted to see so that you could climb up on to your pedestal and deliver grandiose proclamations lol

He sees Wisconsin having some success with this and adapting. No doubt. I wish we could get Okafor with each recruit too but most of them are just potential Kaminskys.
