D.J. Wilson - NBA Champion
While he didn’t finish the season in a Bucks uniform he did play there long enough to get a ring. I’m sure there is an argument whether he, or any player traded mid-season, deserves a ring. I say good for him. He was there for three and a half years and helped this team earn the best record in the NBA two of those years.
If you weren’t on the team when the team won the championship, are you really an NBA champion?
I mean, I love Michigan players as much as the next fan, but this seems like a bridge too far even for me.
I think I'm more surprised than anything else. I never would have guessed that a player that was traded prior to the playoffs would get a ring.
I believe the team decides who gets a ring.
Sometimes players get cash at an amount equal to the time spent with the team. Their share of the winnings.
Also, the GM’s admin gets a ring. So there’s that.
I’m torn. I’m sure if I were in his shoes it would be nice to have a ring knowing I didn’t truly earn it. But he doesn’t make the rules, so good for him.
Participation.
Might as well give Jabbar another ring.
Well.......I'm not terribly sure that a guy who appeared in only 12 games this season and averaged 8 minutes and 3.6 PPG while he was there will get a ring or not.

It would be nice for his sake but I dont know that I'd rush out and print a bunch of "DJ Wilson - NBA Champ" t-shirts just yet.
He tweeted out today that he “woke up a world champion”. I assumed that meant he’s getting a ring.
He absolutely may assume that.
The Milwaukee Bucks on the other hand may not. And there they get to decide who gets a ring, not the player himself.
But hey in 2016 Dan Gilbert gave Cav championship rings to every person associated with team in any way (which was pretty cool) so I wouldnt bet against him getting one from the team. They also made them available for fans to purchase so if he doesnt get one he could always buy one!
I would assume he's not basing his assertion on an assumption but you know what they say, you should never assume things.
Yep, ass/u/me.
It’s standard NBA practice to give a ring and a cut of playoff money to anyone who was on the team for part of the year. Exceptions might be made for guys moved/cut for disciplinary/legal reasons, but it doesn’t seem like Wilson falls under that category.
Even if he does get a ring… I don’t think getting traded mid March allows you to go around and say you were an NBA champion.
It’s not like he got injured and the injury was why he couldn’t play… the team basically told him they wanted someone else on the team instead of him.
LOL. Dude is with the Rockets for one reason: Milwaukee thought PJ Tucker could get them a ring and DJ couldn't. And they were right. They might not have advanced past Brooklyn without him.
I watched DJ Wilson play basketball on tv. I deserve a ring.
Participation trophy?
In your bathtub?
This is almost as bad as the spartans claiming Nick Foles when he won the Super Bowl in Philly....
It’s meant to be in jest. Tough crowd.
You said this in the OP, "I say good for him. He was there for three and a half years and helped this team earn the best record in the NBA two of those years."
You said this in a comment, "I’m torn. I’m sure if I were in his shoes it would be nice to have a ring knowing I didn’t truly earn it. But he doesn’t make the rules, so good for him."
...were those comments in jest too?
I just meant I he’s playing by the rules so good for him if they give him a ring. But I don’t really consider him an NBA champion. His tweet today made me chuckle. Sorry a simple message on a message board for you so riled up.
Next time I post I’ll break down every sentence just for you so you know exactly what I mean in very specific terms.
I wouldn't consider the previous poster being "riled up", they are merely pointing out that your original post followed-up with a "just kidding" is pretty non-sensical.
You can give us a break down of every sentence next time, but if you follow it up with a "just kidding" post to someone that responds to the original we will all be just as confused.
How about Torrey Craig? He started the season with the Bucks and ended it with the Suns? Do you think he feels like a Champion this morning?
He contributed to the team. The team decides who contributed enough to warrant a ring.
But first, the team contacts MGoBloggers for our opinion.
The real question: Is he better than CP3?
People are asking.
Congratulations to DJ. I believe that people who are rostered for a certain number of games for the champion team should be given a ring. They have a similar system in the Premier League and I think it works well. I'd probably say you need to appear on the active roster for at least 25% of the games.
Wouldn't want a ring that meant I would end up having to explain to people I was dumped
I'm just starting to understand the NBA, I don't know everything yet. I watch basketball, read various articles, Click Here to evaluate which articles I prefer to read about it. I really like everything so far, but I don't know everything yet. I should probably read and watch more. What do you recommend to me?
