That's what sold him on MSU - they were 3rd on his list, but the only school of his final three (Miami, OSU, MSU) that gave the green light for hoops. Yet another recruit that buys into the Izzo plan, and yet another log on the fire of propoganda that says MSU owns the state...of course, they'll overlook the fact that Michigan stopped recruiting him in the summer.

even he would have picked michigan, what would he have played TE or WR or LB??? from what i can see he was the only TE that michigan was even recruiting this year and it looks like RR is slowing going to phase the TE out of the offence. i can't wait to hear the sparties come out in full force about this on 97.1 around 2pm today.....LOL
i see this kid turning out to be like matt trannon, decent at both sports but won't be great at either. and could possibly be a be at basketball then football.

We were also recruiting Orson Charles.
We wanted Sims to play defense (OLB or DE) and he wasn't too interested in that. That's one reason we quit recruiting him. Also, he's overrated.

Here's a kid whose heart is wired to WANT to play basketball but has to play Football because he didn't get any bball scholis of worth. Do you really think he will ever amount to anything?

Yeah that Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez could have never played at Michigan because their heart was with basketball. Give MSU their props, it's another nice lottery ticket they picked up.

Gates went to Kent State I'm pretty sure. No idea about Gonzales.

Gonzales went to Cal, and was a bad-ass interior defender/rebounder on the basketball team.

Gates was on the Kent State team that went to the Elite 8 and was a starter (I won my pool that year in part because I actually had picked them going to the Elite 8 - that team was very good and their matchups were great for them). He didn't play football at all in college.
Gonzalez played both sports in college at Cal. He, like Julius Peppers at UNC, was a decent enough basketball player to contribute at the D-1 level but clearly much better at football, both were first round football talents but wouldn't have been drafted by the NBA.

bring the instate recruiting up. As if our Ohio and Florida kids don't MORE than make up for it somehow. Also, it's curious how out of the top five michigan kids, we did still get the same amount as they did, and we also got an instate kid who was FAR AND AWAY the top Michigan kid in this class.

Chris Norman committed to Michigan State in February of 2008. In February of 2008, the University of Michigan had FOUR 4-star linebackers for the Class of 2008 (Fitzgerald, Demens, Hill, Witherspoon).
Two of those guys happened to transfer, but Norman was already committed. Our need for linebackers in the class of 2009 was not very strong when he committed to MSU.
But I suppose you'll keep believing what you want.

At the time he committed to MSU, we had 4 incoming 4-star LB's. We didn't want him.
