Deleted Diaries
Well that sucks. I was excited to jump out of bed and check what my fellow fans thought of my UFR ideas, only to find that the post did not make the cut. Bummer.
I guess I now know better than to suggest ideas in the diaries. Perhaps an email would have been a better idea? Lo siento, Brian. Lo siento.

"Create Diary
This is your own personal section of MGoBlog, to post in as you like."
Diaries implies a person can post whatever they like. However it's clear people on this site want not a diary entry but "deeper thoughts" (whatever that is meant to be).
Perhaps a simple name change from Diaries to "Journals" or even "Articles" would convey what is preferred?

I, too, find the term "diary" to be misleading in this instance. This group definitely wants diary entries to be very well thought out, researched and back up with evidence which is not really what I would consider a diary in any other context to be honest......just sayin'.
Edit* Not that I disagree with this vision of what an entry should be, just that it may save on confusion if it had a different name. I think noobs see "diary" and think they just write what ever comes into their minds. "Dear Diary...I saw Meagan Fox today and got that funny feeling in my pants again" you know, shit like that.

Back when Brian made the switch from Blogger over to Drupal, he wrestled with what to call that section, but just left it as the diaries. There was some mention way back about calling it something else, nothing materialized.

if anyone's got a suggestion that makes it clearer, I'm still listening. (over email)

a journal is a diary for a man who is insecure about his masculenity.

it can be made into a verb much more easily. "Journaling" is very common ... "Diarying" sounds like too much Taco Bell.

I think they just moved it to the board.

I believe Diaries are intended to be in-depth articles on topics related to Michigan Sports (and perhaps their rivals and other local interests) whereas Board topics are more random ideas and off-topic stuff (i.e. TP jokes on Colbert and exuberant Miami, YTM parents). It's Brian's way of sharing the joy with us minions.

You could have just posted your UFR ideas in the UFR comments. There are way too many repetitive posts and it makes getting new info difficult.

It is right here.

You could have posted them right here! Now I still don't know about your UFR thoughts and it's driving me batty.

As mentioned above, diaries don't get deleted, they just get moved.

Thanks for the clear-up. This isn't so bad considering I was on the fence as to where to put the post.

I look at the diaries for analysis and at the board for straight thoughts and opinions. It's useful to keep that distinction for readers so we can get right to the content we want. Happy posting! Keep up the good editorial work, Brian!
