CFP Championship Ticket Requests

Submitted by Michigan_Math_Alum on December 14th, 2023 at 9:29 PM

I don't see any other posts about this yet, but I got a response today for my CFP championship ticket request from the athletic department.  I was not surprised to see that the cutoff this year was 205 points, which was higher than last year when it was 160 points.  I had anticipated not getting a ticket through the department and pursued the CFP RSVP option, though I would have been pleasantly surprised if this had worked out for me.  I hope other readers here got better news than me.

Here was the email:

Thank you for your ticket request for the CFP National Championship Game on Monday, January 8, 2024. Unfortunately, we were not able to fulfill your request. We received more than 25,000 ticket requests for our allotment of 20,000 tickets. While we instituted ticket limits to assist as many donors as possible, we were only able to fulfill requests for those with at least 205 priority points.

I can’t understand why nobody in the athletic department was smart enough to suggest using Photoshop to switch the colors for the Rose & Sugar winner placement.

If anyone bought tickets and then gets a set for Christmas and therefore has extra, I'd really like to take my dad. We already have plane tickets (because he still had credit from when he bought plane tickets last year and we shat all over the field in Glendale and didn't go) and I have backup plans to send my sister with him if I can't work out my radiation schedule (but I'm having it done at UM Health West, so I think they might understand???) Alas, my measly 161 points didn't make the cut this year.

Happy to buy them off of you at a reasonable price. Please don't let the fact that they are 0-2 in playoff games I've attended, and 3-0 in B1G championship games that I haven't sway you.

Unrelated note: Did the school just get less tickets this year? I got tix last year with my 160ish points, and NRG seats about 2K more than SoFi.

I got 3 at the $575 level for me, wife, kid.  We’re trying to make it work (obviously have to get by Alabama) but it may not because I’m supposed to be on some work travel that week…if I can’t get our schedules to align correctly, these tix MIGHT come available to my MGoBlog brethren.

I’m looking for 3 if anybody is unable to make it work.  Flights and hotel are lined up.  Just need to find a way in to watch us dominate in person.

It looks like the Alumni Association has tickets available as part of a tour, but the package prices are holy crap high. $2,500 per person for land-only, tickets not included.

FWIW, I booked a Hilton property 10 miles from the stadium for $350. I'll take my chances for tickets.

Pro Tip: Austin airport is a 2.5 hour drive to NRG Stadium. Way cheaper if you can make the logistics work. (note: look into Vonlane, a van service between Austin and Houston. They are awesome)

Would love to get a pair if anyone ends up with (2) they are willing to sell.  Was able to take my son to his first Ohio game this year and would be an amazing experience for us to go to this game too.

Barely, I have 206, and thats only because this year I donated extra so that our total would be a whole number amount.

The wife has a cousin in Houston that we can stay with so we just need 2 round trip flights.

It’s meant to be!

I also did not make the cut for points and already took the days off work. If we make it past Bama, I will be going.

If anyone is unable to make it, I will buy your tickets and tack on a little extra as a thank you! Myself, dad, and brothers are all planning to go one way or another so please reach out!

Thanks for considering and Go Blue!

For those who received tickets, what was the email address it came from? My father-in-law should have received one but can't find the email. Thanks for any assistance!
