Submitted by SkyPanther on

Wisconsin defensive players, Garrett Rand and Isaiahh Loudermilk, the projected starting DEs for 2018, both are out indefinitely. Garrett Rand, “suffered an Achilles injury during summer workouts,” and could be out for the year. Isaiahh Loudermilk, “underwent knee surgery earlier this spring to address previous injuries,” and could possibly return sometime this season.

This happened to them before with their linebackers if I recall. Wiscy always seems to be able to plug and play another 3* into the lineup and weather the storm.

Absolutely true.  I did read a couple of people comment when this came out who were legitimately concerned about their defensive line depth, though.  You tend to rotate a lot more on the line than at linebackers, so even having guys who can technically slot in means you have to rotate in other guys down the line you may not want to.

Their incredibly easy schedule will help somewhat, but this is still a big loss for them.

Wisconsin hasn’t a player named “Loudermilk” ? That’s doesn’t even seem real. Was he obligated to play for Wisconsin with that name ?

If there is one team who could lose both ends and be ok it’s Wisconsin since they rely on the linebackers to make the plays. That said losing both would certainly put a weak spot in that defense.

I have an OSU friend. Mentioned this to him and said “it won’t affect OSU, though.” His reply? It will when we meet them in the conference title game.”

I hate OSU.
