on Hunter, Johns or Ignas. This is a 4-5 man class and the staff is well aware that Nance will need some time but views him as a hybrid of Justin Jackson/DJ Wilson. Things will get interesting if/when Tyson Hunter commits.....at that point you only have 1, possibly 2 spots left (assuming Nance is already in the fold) and tough choices have to be made. Jerome Hunter is no doubt #1 on the entire board, and I'm a bit more confident today that we're firmly in the mix there with a realistic chance of landing him......the question is will we have room if he waits.

He fits the profile of our typical recruit, high IQ, low athleticism prospect that needs a lot of development but has some physical tools (length) and skill attributes (vision) that are at a premium for Coach Beilein. Coach Beilein has an acumen for development that places him among the best in the country. I'm not high on Nance at all, but perhaps with a few years of development he's a really nice player.

His brother may have tough them a lesson too. He was also developmental and Michigan passed on him for Bielfeldt. Now Nance is in the NBA as a PF while Michigan went years trying to fill that spot until Wilson last year. This time Nance is ranked higher probably for the same reason since his performance doesn't justify his ranking.

The same coach who recruited and landed Glenn Robinson III and Tim Hardaway Jr.

...those guys are so unathletic. Gee Golly, Zak Irvin and MAAR are basically '92 Larry Bird when it comes to athleticism.

It was clearly worded incorrectly, but you've watched Michigan basketball, you should've caught it from the jump. Is Michigan the most athletic team in the world? No. Not even close. But if you think Beilein is actively recruiting unathletic players, you're smoking crack.

If you've followed Michigan basketball for more than 10 minutes you just know that means he prioritizes other aspects over athleticism - maybe more than some of us like. Gun to his head, he's taking high IQ over athlete every time. But it doesn't mean he can't have both - someone will just be more of one than the other. Meanwhile Rick Pitino or Bob Huggins may prioritize the same two things...just flipped/vice versa.

Just like we all know he prioritizes shooting over athleticism...Bob Huggins does not.

At Michigan, you're not going to find a shit ton of guys who shoot, are athletic, have a high basketball IQ, and have high attributes in everything else. At some point you prioritize one thing over another. At Duke, UK, UNC, etc. - you may find more guys with high levels of all of these things. We're not those schools.

Nance is bad. Ant Wright on twitter has been saying this for months. I pray he goes to OSU or NW.

First:  Thanks very much for the write-ups.  Very thorough and informative.

Second:  If you'll permit a minor editorial comment, I think the word you may be looking for when you use "stagnant," is "static."

But again, thanks and keep the observations/evaluations coming.

may portend. I get a number of the strong reasons that he might move on, but wonder what it means this late in the day, and for the team's defense. Never got a strong sense whether he reached the kids, much of anything. Appreciate any insight.
