2010 Recruits' High School Track Stats

Submitted by cbishop on
I was introduced to the website www.milesplit.com from a track buddy. On the website, you can type in any person that has run track in high school, and check out some of there personal bests times and what not. Not all meets and invitationals are in the website, therefore some may have personal bests that are better than the ones posted. But anyways, to save you guys some time, here are some players and their times and distances. Demar Dorsey: 100m Dash = 10.53, 200m Dash = 21.48, Long Jump = 21-4.25 ft. Josh Furman: 100m Dash = 11.02, 200m Dash = 23.16 Antonio Kinard: Long Jump = 21-0 ft. Ricardo Miller: 100m Dash = 12.05, 200m Dash = 23.37, 400m Dash = 53.63 (These stats are all from 2008 while he was at Florida) Jordan Paskorz: Shot Put = 50-3.75 ft. Marvin Robinson: Long Jump = 22-8 ft., Triple Jump = 44-5 ft. (all from 2007, freshman year?) Terrance Talbott: 100m Dash = 11.57, Long Jump = 22-0.75 ft. D.J. Williamson: 100m Dash = 10.66, 200m Dash = 21.64 Some Current Players: Jeremy Gallon: 100m Dash = 11.06, 200m Dash = 23.33 Denard Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.44, 200m Dash = 21.89, Long Jump = 20-5.5 ft. Fitzgerald Toussaint: 100m Dash = 10.74, 200m Dash = 22.65 Darryl Stonum: 200m Dash = 21.62 Terrence Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.78, 200m Dash = 21.87

Although Ricardo's times aren't earth shattering, those are from his sophomore year, and he's a pretty big guy. He'd probably run in the mid to low 11's as a senior, which still doesn't make him a burner, but not bad for a guy over 200lbs. For those non-track followers, all of the guys who run sub-11 in the 100m as high schoolers are very, very fast.

Don't use height as an excuse. My co-captian of our track team in high school was maybe 5'9" and all legs. He ran in the 47's at the state meet and 153 in the half. He ran track at Auburn. There are short guys who excel at every track event. Stride is only half the battle, turnover is the other. I have a 30" inseam, I get it.

I agree that Ricardo is not going to be a burner, but comparing a high school sophomore's time to that of a college athlete is a little silly. Some of the fastest sprinters out there can't run a better-than-decent quarter mile anyway.

Yeah, that's fair. I mean, I knew he was fast, but I guess it's more that I hadn't looked at his film or recruiting profile in so long that I'd just forgotten. There are a lot of players that we have had locked for a long time that I just haven't paid any attention to recruiting-wise in a long time (e.g. Williamson, Miller, Jackson, etc.). I'm also studying for another bar exam right now, so that could also explain it...

One guy that i am fairly suprised with is Terrence Robinson. I figured he'd have to be pretty quick to be at the slot, but i didnt know he had that elite speed.

1). The scouts who said Fitz didn't have breakaway speed were clearly full of shit. 10.74? That's faaaasssst. 2). MRob had a 22-8ft long jump as a freshman? Damn. 3). Hopefully that 12.05 100m has gone down for Ricardo or was with wind resistance. I'm thinking he's a TE at the next level. 4). No info on high jump? EDIT: Nope. Also, as a comparison, if these kids ran their best times at the Big 10 Track & Field Championships, here is where they would have placed: Denard = 2nd Demar = 2nd Fitz = 5th D.J. = 4th Of course no one can top Adam Harris and his 10.39.

I ran a 10.81 in the 100, 21.93, 200 and a 49.19 in the 400 i also long jumped 22'1.25...so i find it hard to believe that josh furman who runs a 4.3 can only run a 11.02 cuz i only run a 4.49

First of all, Furman does not run a 4.3. He's fast, but at last year's NFL combine there was one guy who ran a 4.3. Secondly, just because he's faster than you in the 40 doesn't mean he's faster than you in the 100. He's not huge, but Furman is a good size guy, so he could be very explosive but not have top end speed.

Denard Robinson: 100m Dash = 10.44, 200m Dash = 21.89, Long Jump = 20-5.5 ft. Demar Dorsey: 100m Dash = 10.53, 200m Dash = 21.48, Long Jump = 21-4.25 ft. I dont buy these either, I follow and know track very well, and anybody who runs a 10.44 long jumps MUCH farther than 20'5.5 and 10.53 to a 21'4.25. The long just should really be called "run fast, jump high" because u run as fast as u can and jump as high as u can and your speed carries you to a long distance. i ran a 10.81 and jumped 22+ so these guys can jump alot farther than the times listed

Long jumping over 20 feet for a high schooler is not bad. Like Beeks said, maybe they just didn't have a lot of LJ training and practice. I had a buddy on our track team in high school who ran a 10.7 100m, and the coach would throw in to LJ in a handful of meets. He would jump around 20 feet or so, no more. He never practiced it, but the coach knew, depending on which teams we were competing against, he could have him long jump and he'd place. Could be a similar situation.
