Illinois 64, Michigan 52 (OT)
Those moving pictures are the thousands of words you very much don't want to read about Michigan giving up a 21-2 run to close out yet another overtime loss. Worst of all, perhaps, is I couldn't lead off this post with Aubrey Dawkins taking Nnanna Ewgu for a ride on the BOFA Express.
This is apparently what happens when your only trusted inbounder is 5'10". I don't much like it.

FWIW that sounds a lot like timmy's trajectory. The truth is that this team is missing its 2 best players, and is without any semblance of senior leadership. I feel like most successful CBB teams have at least one of these two characteristics. I agree this year has been a disappointment but the fact of the matter is that you have a situation where a bunch of players who, due to atrition, simply aren't as good as their competition, and they are playing their butts off and losing in close games. I have no worries, but would still like to see a big time recruit from at least one of these two next cycles. Hail Reverend Beilein!

It wasn't awful, but we missed on the big names... I mean, damn if we had Devin Booker....
Anyway, I think Dawkins and MAAR will be great for us sooner rather than later. Doyle will be our Morgan in a few years. Chatman is a total unknown. I think it's a psychological thing. He needs to slow the game down and just learn to step up. It's going to take time.

Booker, Blackmon, Vince Edwards. Those are 3 off the top of my head that we completely whiffed on. Dawkins could be great because of his shooting and athleticism. MAAR could be a decent scorer but his shot is very inconsistent and I don't see much else of his game that would make him an impact player. Chatman I have no idea, the guy looks like he needs to go back to high school for 4 more years. Wilson is a big project that's behind on his development due to the injury. I'm honestly not too optimistic about our future. Thank god for Harbaugh.

Maybe. Didn't seem to like it here. He would've been a body up front and could've improved. Not making waves like he and his family thought he would at Florida, but being exactly what everyone else thought he was.

His decision to transfer was confusing to everyone, except him and family. He had all the playing time he earned here this year. IMO, he was lured by the thought that he was a legitimate NBA talent that was held back by Beilein's style. His apparent clam demenor seemed to be just his distaste for lack of playing time when it all came to an end. I don't know him and maybe I'm wrong, but he's not a guy I would vote captain.

You're nuts. Beilein took a team of exclusively unheralded recruits (save GRIII) inches from the final four last year (for the second year in a row, by the way). I think we're going to be okay with this group of unheralded recruits when we're not struck by outrageous injuries and all of our players being so good that they leave early.

You act like he hasn't been to the tournament nearly every year, 2 straight elite 8s, and a championship game. Then he loses more than anyone but UK and he's a deadbeat? Morris, Burke, Stauskas, MAAR, Dawkins, etc... Pick a better coach and go root for them. Please!

So Stringer, do you believe Harbaugh whiffed on Clark, Jefferson, Marshall, and Weber too? The only way I will blame a coach for not landing a recruit is if this kid has a blantant connection to Michigan, i.e legacy family, local kid, pictures in Michigan gear as child. Let's not forget Blackmon is from Indiana and his father went to UK. Booker was born in GR but went to High School in Mississippi and his dad played at Missouri.

So much negativity. We've got a great base to build on. Beilein will provide.

Walton comes back from injury full strength and Duncan Robingson joins the team, who already has a year of experience with the team and system, and is more of a known quantity than an incoming freshman would be.
And players, you know, get better....We have 3 promising freshman playing a ton of minutes this year who are only going to get better. You saw what happened to Morris, Burke, Stauskus, etc after their freshman year.
Next year will be far and away better than this year. Most teams (if you're not Kentucky or Duke) have rebuilding years when their roster is pillaged by the NBA.

It's okay. We have a saving grace in that Red and the hockey team are really good this year.

I've gone from basketball excitement to "C'mon Hockey" and "Wonder if the baseball team will play well?" Crikey!
