lsu is supposedly wiliing to lower the buyout to keep him from poaching recruits. not sure that could be binding because it's the kid's choice, but that's the rumor for why they would lower it.

This posted in the wrong spot. I was referring to the poster who said the rumor was that LSU was lowering the buyout so Les wouldn't poach LSU recruits.

It's not the kid's choice to just come play at Michigan if they. The school (i.e, Les, if he's the coach) has to offer him first.

and since the buyout is already in Miles contract, I would imagine LSU has discretion to wave or enforce that for whatever reason they choose, accepting commitments from kids currently committed to LSU being a point they might wave/enforce it over.
