CC: What if Brandon releases a statement Thursday

Submitted by SalvatoreQuattro on

that reads "Rich Rodriguez will return as Head Coach at the University of Michigan for the 2011 season." Oh, how chaos will ensue among the fan base. Heads will explode,  hands will be wrung, and many a cat massacred.

Seriously, no one has a clue what David Brandon will do. We are getting hot and bothered about UM "losing" Harbaugh when Michigan in fact still has a coach. Does not the seat have to be vacate in order for another to sit upon it? I suppose JH could sit on RR's lap, but that would just be weird.

Just had another child, I'd imagine he'd want a job where he could actually raise and see his kids grow up. Also, his wife's desire to stay in a warm climate might be something to think about. I think people make it all about the money and forget these coaches are actually people with actual families and lives. I just hope people don't get so hung up on getting Harbaugh that when it doesn't happen we set ourselves up for failure.

Well, I assume there will be a deal in place, and the new coach will be introduced and give his speech at halftime of the Michigan-Kansas basketball game on Saturday. This coincides with the final important recruiting weekend, so its another reason to have things ironed out by then.

If I had to guess, RR will be fired tomorrow, and a deal with the new coach will be in place by Wednesday evening. We'll have to see.

What if DB released a statement that read "Rich Rodriguez has been fired and relieved of his head coaching duties at the University of Michigan. After a thorough evaluation of potential successors, we have decided to stay in house with our coaching change and we are promoting our own Greg Robinson to fill the head coaching vacancy. We are looking forward to a bright future with Greg as the leader of our football program. Thanks for your support, and Go Blue!"

Glen Masons hot wife it took JH four years to reach the Orange Bowl Plateau. If DB gives RR another year pending he reach out to mike singletary, or some defensive guru to help on the defensive side of the ball, I think we will be ok.

If I were keeping Rich Rod, I would bring in Shannon to run the defense, and if that means RR's drinking buddies are gone so be it.  Shannon is a great D Coordinator and has a good line on south Florida recruits.  But he would have to have autonomy.

DB will find himself stranded on the same island with RR without food, water and a pistol with only one bullet. I don't think fans will tolerate another year at this point.

Up until recently I was agnostic on the coaching debate, with perhaps a slight bias to bringing in Harbaugh.  The OSU and Miss State games pushed me towards it's time for a change position.  However, if he brings RR back, then Brandon needs to give him an extension.  Otherwise, the angst and the debate will continue ad infinitum; not to mention the impact on recruiting.
